A-10 v. ACC

Postby Mr. Neutral » Sat Mar 15, 2008 9:40 pm

Lunardi has 4 teams from the ACC and 3 from the A-10. Assuming that's how it plays out, who would have put money on us getting only one bid less than the ACC?

And if UD or UMass should sneak in....

I think if ud sneaks in that the talking head will scream bloody murder.

JL thinks Big East will get 7, ACC is considered down this year but Packer and Dickie will be crying if they would get less than the A-10 and probably will blubber if they get only 4.

The bubble is big this year and a number of big names don't deserve it as much because they didn't take care of business. I feel that forcing the big boys to play tougher occ has exposed them. There is not that big a difference after the top 5 to 10 schools in the nation from the 11 to 50 teams.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

UD probably doesn't belong in, but leaving out a school with its numbers (RPI-35, SOS-36) is going to be something that people bring up in upcoming years (i.e., "if they left out Dayton at #35, then we're no lock").

But it is the body of work that the selection committee members, who have been interviewed, say which the most important. They asked about close wins and close losses and the head guy today said a win is a win. Now I am sure he was over simplyifying it but it seems that if a player is hurt it might mean something if after a few losses they right the ship...ud didn't. ud also doesn't have the away wins. Pitt wining tonight might help them but it will mean they might just get to the last four out. Actually, I hoped a lot of A-10 teams would get in the dance because it means more money and exposure. Rising tide lifts all ships.

Remember that UD lost the majority of their games 1. to XU 2. After they had injuries. I may be wrong but I think that the committee may look at those two points. UD in the final analysis may not make it in. However the league, as tough as it is this year, should get at least 4-5 in! Look at UM, Rhoddy, UD, XU, St Joes, and maybe one I'm missing. Then look at the OOC wins prior to getting in league play then getting decimated by the A-10 Conference. Rhoddy, UD and UMass in particular.
I feel like UMass, UD and St Joes could easily make cases for their inclusion into the dance, what do you guys think? ----Biggernlife

For one the top half of the A 10 is at least as good if not better then the top half of the ACC. Even though if X won the conference tourney we would be a 1 bid league. X's loss was kind of a blessing in disguise i think, we get another day of much needed rest for drew, the A 10 gets much more money and it looks like we may still be a 3 seed. Either way I can't wait for temple and st joes to wreck some brackets come tourney time. Represent the conference well and everybody gets paid, just a lil more money to throw at sean in the offseason to keep him here
