Miller is well paid

Postby brownlavender » Wed Mar 12, 2008 3:57 pm

http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/ ... 20385/1065 After reading this article it sounds like sean is going to get another raise prior to next year. With that it's likely that he will make over a million a year, i don't know what you guys make but that's pretty decent money. I'm not sure what kelvin samspon was due to make but i wouldn't think it would be over 2 million to coach college. Money being somewhat comparible, it sounds like sean is very comfortable here and may not leave if offered the IU job. Having seen coach after coach leave to go to a "Big Time Program" i may be nieve. Although X is getting better every year and is closing in on that "Big Time" label that all coach's covet. He has great recruits coming in not only next year but is working on a great class for the year after that. Maybe i'm speaking from the heart and not so much logic but i think sean will be here for a long time

It sounds like the powers that be are going to make a good financial commitment to Sean.I think he appreciates that and won't be swayed by the almighty dollar. If he's driven strictly by money,it will be hard to keep him.But I don't think Sean is.I'd be happy to get a coach for at least 10 years.

COACHING FOR PAY
Here's a rundown of some of the major men's basketball coaches and their pay. Some salaries do not reflect total income because of different reporting requirements or undisclosed outside income.

Coach School Income
Tubby Smith Kentucky $1.9 million
Tom Crean Marquette $1.65 million
Rick Pitino Louisville $1.64 million
Tom Izzo Michigan State $1.6 million
Jim Calhoun Connecticut $1.4-$1.5 million
Mike Krzyzewski Duke $1.4 million
Roy Williams North Carolina $1.4 million
Bo Ryan Wisconsin $700,000
Jim Boeheim Syracuse $377,387
Rob Jeter UW-Milwaukee $300,000

This is from 2006 but these numbers can't be that far off now

here's another site i just found from all the coaches in the 2006 tourney http://www.usatoday.com/sports/graphics ... /flash.htm

Boeheim must be getting some serious $ from some other sources because I guarantee you he's making more than that after 30 years and a NCAA championship.

He is .. the USA list says $1.3 million ...
that list says Sampson was $1.25 in '06, so add a year $$$ and it's not that far above what Sean will be .. is any!
