I will say that when my White Sox won the World Series in '05, that didn't make Juan Uribe the best SS in baseball, or A.J. Pierzynski the best catcher, etc., It just meant that everything clicked for that group of guys for that year, no more, no less.

X meshed very well this year, with great results. Does that make every player in our lineup better than every other player in the league at that same position? It's an unanswerable question, actually.

CJ scored a total of 22 points in the two UD & SJU games for a total of 5.5ppg.

BJ and CJ combined for 2 pts. in the Temple game.

Love scored 23 pts. total in 4 of our 5 losses.

So, please, I'm not knocking our guys; they've played very well and earned their 26-5 record. But you can't make a serious case for any of our guys to be 1st team all-league, no matter how much success the team has enjoyed.

If the all-league teams are based strictly on offensive production your point is accurate. If defense is part of the equation which I believe it is your dead wrong.

If I had to pick a starting 5 for my all A-10 team to take on the other leagues all star teams Stanley Burrell would be on the floor at tip-off. The guy has absolutely shut down some of the best players in the league ask BRob. His defensive has set the tone for so many wins this year.

His offense has been extremely efficient averaging 10 a game on a very small amount of shots. He hits 40% from 3 and 85% from the line which has come in handy at the end of several close W's. As a playmaker Burrell has averaged 4 assists a game with a 2-1 assist to turnover ratio.

It's funny to hear so many coaches preach the importance of D but when given the opportunity to reward it they go with stats.

I hope Stan at least got Martelli's vote considering all the names Phil called him after watching him shut down his boy Calathes at the Cintas Center.

IMO Burrell is the A-10 POY.

Granted Hammer has a lot of passion and it is usually well directed. This is the second time I know of that he has said some things that have been variously interpreted (the thing about Roberts). I am not saying in both of these instances whether he was right or wrong. I would just hope he is careful not to say something out of line, especially something that could end up on another team's bulletin board. I hope Sean is working with him on this, but ultimately Stan is an adult and will do as he sees right! Hope he makes the good decisions off court that he has learned to do on court.

As one of those at a 1st round game in Lincoln NE back in the '80's, I remember that all too well!

yup that's me the UC fan. i've attended, in person, every single X game this year home and away (how many on this board can say that).

haven't missed a home game played in the Cintas Center.

attended every single NCAA tournament game X has played over the past 12 years (even the Gonzaga game in Salt Lake a couple years ago---when 3 other X fans decided to show up)

my family and myself personally have paid for /donated quite a few athletic and academic scholarships over the years....

but i'm the uc fan. keep it coming "die hards."

btw...since when is a basketball player considered "unselfish" for playing defense. it's half the game. it should be expected.

I think Stan is awesome.. Standing up for the 3 others left out. I can not understand how one of the best 3 point shooters(BJ), the most athletic(Derrick), and the best finisher in the paint(CJ) are left off one of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd teams. My gosh no one in the league can hold a candle to X and what they all accomplished. Only 3 members of the number 1 team in the league are award all conference honors. Go figure.. X needs to plaster the A-10 tournament competition..maybe others will figure out what most of the XU family already knows that each player is deserving recognition.

I don't have a problem with what Stan said although I would not call out any players on other teams by name which he apparently did.I 'm glad to see a guy have some emotion.

These awards are based solely on stats.Would you take Roberts or Forbes over Drew? No way!He's the best true point guard in the league.Xavier has 5 or 6 guys who could score 18 points a game if they wanted to and be first team but it would not help the team.Sean and the players deserve a lot of credit.CJ is a perfect example.He came here averaging 18 points a game at Manhattan.He could have come in here an demanded to be The Man but instead he accepted his role and been a big part of their success.Josh could have complained about not starting but he accepted his role for the better of the team.These other teams may have great individual players but we have the All League team! I think we'll all take that.
