I can't determine how much is the coaching staff's fault, but I'm not ready to absolve them of any responsibility like some have already.
Tony Yates and Billy Donovan only wished this applied to them as well.

Ah you seem to be always upset over here. Maybe this board is not your cup of tea. There are other boards or maybe a high colonic might make you feel better.Anti-Homer wrote:Ooops! I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Not upset, objective and concerned. I assure you my posts had a far different tone when SM was here. Frankly, I think the jury is still out on CM. However, losing 4 recruits (including Chandler and DSR) in one year is very troubling to me.
You might be right though. I'm sure there are alot of high major programs who don't mind losing 3 top 100 and 1 top 150 player in one year.

A-H, I see your point, but shouldn't we wait to see how this plays out? If Martin, Taylor and the frosh are the real deal, then losing Canty and Latham is no big deal. If Canty and Latham go on to be big-time players somewhere else, then X screwed up. But I can't recall an X transfer who turned out to be a guy we really missed.

I'm not throwing in the towel. I think CM has attracted the best recruits of any coach at Xavier. However, keeping/developing them is a different issue. Time will tell if the losses are significant.Mr. Neutral wrote:A-H, I see your point, but shouldn't we wait to see how this plays out? There is one player who transferred out and did quite well: David Young. However, as a program we've had exponentially more success with transfers than failures (Braggs, Jeff Massey, Brian Thornton, JCraw, Myles) to name a few.

I agree. Over the years, we really haven't lost much in terms of guys transferring out, while we've done well in terms of guys transferring in.

verbals are lost by many programs, including top programs, so it is not like you had a loi for dsr and chandler. When Chandler made his verbal I think X wanted him but it was subsequent dealing that made X walk away and believe me you would not have wanted him based on what happened. As for DSR, yes, X doesn't have him signed, sealed and delivered but there is more than a good bet that he is wearing blue and white before it is over.Anti-Homer wrote:Not upset, objective and concerned. Like Mr N said the jury is still out on these players like Canty(who I think will do okay in the right program) and latham(that needs some growing up to do). I hope they succeed but they need(especially latham) to be realistic about moving on and pick the right place or they might sit the pine at the next place.

I too said the jury is still out. I get the sneking suspicion you don't agree with some of my observations. I hope DSR is wearing an X uniform, but a previous thread gives me cause for concern. However, if Anderson or the like takes his place, I'd be equally thrilled.muskieman wrote:verbals are lost by many programs, including top programs, so it is not like you had a loi for dsr and chandler. Re: Transfers
I think positive until there is something to get upset about and the possible loss of prospects don't bother me because there always seems to be other players out there that might prove just as good and until they sign that loi they are just prospects.
Certainly Anderson in an X uni should make a lot of X fans happy but he too is still an "if come" just a better "If come" than most players out there. I think DSR is playing for X when he is ready for college but things could happen this year(injury, etc.) which might make his family wish they would not have given up the bird in a hand.
