I'm as big of an X fan as anybody on here, but the logic of trying to bring down two of the most storied programs in college basketball in some sort of "they wear pants, too" talk is petty. Let's hope our program gets to the point where these two are someday.
That was a great game of basketball last night. If you didn't like the game, you don't appreciate college basketball. If Tyler Hansbrough were on Xavier's team, he would be treated as a god.

Re: Thoughts on NC - Duke game
Miller, nobody's trying to "bring down" two of college basketball's biggest programs. It's just that sometimes you watch North Carolina-Duke, and it's almost NBA-level basketball. That's not the case this year, no matter how important the game may be, or how fierce the rivalry is.
Bill was simply pointing out that NC-Duke at Cameron doesn't automatically make it an all-time great game. Some games have been. Last night's was not. Hotly contested? Sure.

Re: Thoughts on NC - Duke game
First post of the thread:
"While watching NC - Duke game it became apparent to me that they do the same dumb stuff we do. I must admit before watching this entire game, I was a not very confident in us playing a team of their stature, but not now. I still don't get Tyler Hansbrough. Saw him get schooled by Oden three years ago in Indy. But I'll start drinking the "Dicky V" koolade this morning."
This sounds like "bringing down" to me.
Also...
Carolina has 4 players that will play in the NBA:
Lawson, Ellington, Green, Hansbrough.
Green and Hansbrough are not all star NBA guys. I acknowledge that, but they will be in the league for a few years, and will at a minimum get drafted. Ellington and Lawson maybe early-mid first rounders whenever they decide to leave, too early to tell.
Duke has 2, maybe 3 that will play in the pros: Gerald Henderson and Kyle Singler, maybe DeMarcus Nelson (probably not).
Thats at least 6 guys headed to the NBA out of one game, stemming from the fact that the schools have over a dozen McDonalds All Americans between them.
I'll agree that last night's game wasn't an instant classic or anything, but its #1 vs. #5...what do you expect the media to do? Downplay that? I just see hints of jealousy on here that aren't really needed, that's all. On any given night, we could beat Duke or Carolina. Play Carolina 10 times, we may win 1-2. Play Duke 10 times, we may win 3-4. Let's hope we get the opportunity to beat them in the upcoming weeks.

The Chicago Tribune's Rick Morrissey on the Tyler Hansbrough Lovefest-
http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/co ... 512.column
He basically acknowledges that TH is a very good player, but suggests "enough, already".

i think he IS as good. UNC vs. UK on a Neutral CourtMr. Neutral wrote:Hansbrough's clearly a very good, tough player; I'm not arguing that. I just don't think he's as good as he's made out to be. Others can, and do, disagree.
