My needs are simple after each victory I only want X to win the next game. One at a time and all will take care of itself. If they lose one they are still a team for me to remember.

A thrid win over dayton would be nice too.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Amen, Muskieman. You are a wise man and your wisdom is unquestioned--at least in this household as long as I have breath and claws to back it up.
It's far more exciting to look forward to the next game and not worry about what's beyond. And it saves a tremendous amount of disappointment if those lofty expectations are not achieved.
I remember a saying my former doctor, who's gone to that great clinic in the sky, used to say: Have fun. It's important.

Reading your articles over the years has made me a lot smarter but you are the master.

The season is a long haul for the players and to win the tournament championship is the prize. Championships are not a given so they should be appreciated. Just ask all the teams in any sport that haven't seen one for a while. The musketeers need to at least! repeat to the great 8 to match the previous mark. Then, set their own mark. As important as success is to us in the seats, surely, it means everything to the musketeers.
i only want them to win out 1 game at a time, A10 tournament 1 game at a time, ncaa march 1 game at a time. i get that, just like the regular season. but at this time in the season every team in the ncaa is in tournament mode right now...1 game at a time...

OK i understand that whatever happens this is a great team and they've had a great year. That being said I can't understand why everybody seems so nervous or seems to have lack of expectations. Fact of the matter is I expect this team to be in the final four. I've seen every top 80 team play this year and have watched hours and hours of ball this year. I've spent numerous hours studying stats, analyzing team after team after team. X can play with anybody this year. We are well rounded and can flat out play ball. The only team that i think has a little edge on X is UCLA, they have a truly athletic good all around team besides that we can play with anybody in the country and if you as fans have any expectations other then a final four appearance then either your too apprehensive or just scared. Granted X seems to get screwed by calls when it matters come march, i.e. Adam Morrison ghost foul calls, or Dang from duke or even Oden last year, we always play well in the tourney and my expectations are as high this year since our elite 8 team, and i picked their bracket perfect that year even though they should of beaten duke. Anyways it's time for X to be considered a Major program by the masses and not just another mid major like gonzaga. This is the year of X and a championship parade and celebration will mean a lot to this great team so get the champagne ready because it's time to quiet all the critics

As a member of q's and muskieman's, guys that I respect a lot, "one game at a time" club, I have to say that we are all great fans just as I am sure you are. I know I do have expectations and wish for all the same accomplishments that you do. I just find it generally is more productive and satisfying for me just to point to winning that next game. If we keep doing that we will also get where you want to be. And I know it has worked best for me over the 30+ years I have been a rabid Xavier fan!

And yes I am nervous ... that is just my way. I am not nervous that we are not good enough, clearly that is not the case, but nervous that some very hurtful injuries will come along or that for some reason they momentarily lose focus or something unexpected happens (e.g. badly officiated game) and we momentarily stumble. And as we get to the tournament we know that takes just one game.

I do think you misread us and somehow think we are less the fan because we take this approach because we are not talking about who we will be playing in the Final Four at this point. That works well for you but the other way works better for me (and obviously for others) ... but the key thing is we all want the same thing! So let's all hang together as we move forward toward the same goals, but with different approaches to the way we do it!

Go Muskies! Kill the Hawk!

It's just what somebody thinks ...

Games are played on hardwood with a round rim that can fit two balls into at the same time but there are times a team or person couldn't hit that basket if were the ocean and they were standing on the shore. Great teams get beat and while I have all the confidence in this Xavier team there are untold number of situations that could make a victory that much harder. Of course looking ahead too far is one of those situations. It felt that the Chalmers team had every bit the ability to make the final four and they would have with a tip away here and a basket or two made there.

I remember a game where such things as an uncalled intentional foul, one missed free throw, and an always difficult decision not to foul and allow a three point shot likewise cost a very good team a trip to the Sweet Sixteen. You are quite right, muskieman, stuff indeed does happen.
