I was watching the Kansas vs. Texas Tech game and about midway through the 2nd half ESPN showed Jay Bilas' 6 criteria a team must have to win the national championship. They are:
1) Experience
2) Depth
3) Balance
4) Defense
5) Coach
6) Hunger
The announcers were comparing Kansas' team to the list but I really feel that we are very similar to Kansas and that we meet all of these requirements. This is why I think that X will go deep into the tourney. They may not win but I feel that they have a better chance of going far than we do exiting in the first round. I will leave the analyzing of each criteria to the highly educated basketball fans on this forum. So any thoughts?

Re: National Championship Requirements
I quite agree with you and could go into each of those factors in detail but I think it would simply be preaching to the choir. The only one that I think we have at times shown some problems is in 6) Hunger. I think clearly the seniors have it and understand it. I think there have been times when some of the other players may have let up a little and not been quite hungry enough. So it is up to the seniors to make the point to the others and I think they will ... especially Stan as he tends to be more vocal than the other two.
It's just what somebody thinks ...

No offense, but there's only 1 requirement: win 6 games. The rest is a bunch of chatter.

X faces all desperate teams now through the A10 tournament. I just hope they can stay healthy through the wars. then..i think they'll get recharged and gain momentum and confidence each game in the ncaa..mentally tough and conditioned to win, X....we go to Final 4, gotta be the year...

Excellent observation. That is probably the most important and unfortunately the least easy to control. Along somewhat the same lines, I would also add "stay out of trouble!"bluegrass wrote:I would add a seventh-being healthy

Re: National Championship Requirements
might I add play with POISE
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Re: National Championship Requirements
Piece of cake. This year they only have to win three games in the A-10 tourny instead of the usual four.xuhuh! wrote:X faces all desperate teams now through the A10 tournament.
