According to Jerry Palm
Guys, things look really good. No horrendous loses as in the past. Sure, we got caught off guard a couple times and didn't play our game, but whatever. Most importantly, the toughest leg of our schedule is yet to come. 8 teams in the top 100 in the A10. 7 in the top 60. 4 around the top 20.
Come on, cut the Mid Major crap out. One indication of a major conference is that the conference schedule is tougher than the out of conference schedule. This is true for "major" schools because they only play one or two big games OOC. We played several OOC, yet still have our tougher games ahead of us. Dayton, UMass and Rhode Island are big time games this year. Charlotte, Duguesne and Saint Joseph's will be competitive. Temple proved to be very competitive. I would anticipate that our conference RPI will go up as we start playing each other. Let's get all these... and crush the others.

I hate the characterization as much as the next guy, but that's actually a great description. Unfortunately, this is the first time in recent memory that it would apply to the A-10.tacitus wrote: Come on, cut the Mid Major crap out. Thanks for the list. Once again it shows that a strong OOC makes a difference. I hope we keep that up in the future. All of our league games will be big this year.

Unfortunately this is the first year in recent memory that the label "Mid Major" applies? I think this is the first year in recent memory that the conference is strong enough for coaches and the commissioner to stand up and challenge the label...LA Muskie wrote: I hate the characterization as much as the next guy, but that's actually a great description. Wow...even when I'm agreeing with you you think I'm attacking you! My point was that this was the first time in recent history that our A-10 conference schedule was as tough (if not tougher) than our OOC schedule (which itself was pretty grueling).tacitus wrote: Unfortunately this is the first year in recent memory that the label "Mid Major" applies? I just thought, from a linguistic standpoint, that the second statement was linked to the first... while, from a logical standpoint, that couldn't have been the case. Just wanted a confirmation that we were on the same page. There should be extensive studies on linguistics and (failed) communication on discussion boards.

I never would have thought this, but the UC win is looking better and better.Let's hope they can keep winning.Hopefully Miami will turn things around. We just need to avoid any sub100 rpi losses. So far so good.
