Some Discord?

Postby picknroll » Sat Mar 01, 2008 10:19 pm

Maybe between Lavender and Coach Miller? In the post game interview, Miller said (paraphrasing) " his ankle's not broken, I'm at a loss what we do next". Is it that Drew's not in "game shape" due to lack of practice? Could it be Drew's cautious with his health in case he gets a chance at the next level? Time will tell. You know, maybe a loss at St. Joe's would get this team re-focused in time for both tournaments...

No discord... that is the Miller way with Drew. He was laying down the terms and Drew will pick it up.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

I would sit drew until tourney time. There is no reason to play him. Xavier has a #2 seed wrapped up even if they lose to St. Joes. At the very worse Xavier is a 3 seed. I say sit Drew until he is 100% better. I know I have read on here that there is nothing sitting will do that will cause him to be better. However, I really think it's time to just let him rest until mid march. If it means dropping to a 3 seed or even 4 seed then that is fine. We need this kid full strength March 20th or 21st.

I heard that, and certainly did not interpret it as discord. I took it to mean that he is just not well enough to go and use his speed to do the things he does well. In fact to me it sounded more like the injury is much more serious than was first thought.

sean was calling Drew out a little but I think it was just to fire him up a bit. Drew has a sprain and after a while you just play through it. Drew at this point is not really playing through it and because of that he is a liability on the defenseive end. I will bet he will be much better by Thursday.

While it would be a nice thing to sit him, I think that long a time off would mean his game would be rusty just when we need him. I think the limited time give him some rest and a chance to test it, some time for Jackson to get playing time and improve, third some time for the team to realize their are other people that must step up,

Drew's been hit with some bad luck...ankle and the flu. I am in favor of sitting him St. Joe's and just letting him get healthy.

He can play against Richmond and in the A-10 tourney to get back into playing condition.

St. Joe's is going to be tough anyway.....I would hate to lose there AND play Drew.

Miller went out of his way to compliment Drew when he played through the injury against Charlotte. Paraphrasing, he said there weren't many players who could have played through it. Lavender is a prime-time player who will be there when it counts. A lot is being made of the ankle, but my hunch is that he might have been more affected by the flu. I think it was his conditioning, not his mobility, that limited his playing time.

X is 25-4 and headed for a top four seed regardless of what happens the rest of the year. No worries.

With all due respect, has anyone else noticed that English seems to be Sean's fourth language?
