Ken Pomeroy said on Alan Cutler's show this morning that X could conceivably get a 2 seed if they took care of business the rest of the way. He also said they were in very good shape for a 3 seed by just continuing to play as they have over the last 10-12 games. There was never any mention of the possibility of a top seed. I agree that there is little or no likelihood for that to happen and I don't say that to be demeaning to the Muskies. I believe it is just the reality of how the system is set up and what the mindset is of the majority of basketball gurus at this point. Perhaps if XU continues to dominate the A-10 for the rest of this season and throughout the next 2-3 seasons (as well as having good fortune in our OOC schedules), we could sneak into a #1 seed. Memphis seems to be doing it in a non-Big 6 conference and Gonzaga has gotten some high seeds in past years, so XU can do it also.
Fathers James Hoff and Michael Graham, AD Mike Bobinski, and Head Coaches Staak, Gillen, Prosser, Matta, Miller, & Mack represent a Golden Era of Xavier Men's Basketball. AD Christopher and Head Coach Steele will bring us to an even higher level!

A 30-4 XU team would be a lock for a #2 seed and would get strong consideration for one of the 4 #1 seeds.

#2 is as high as it goes unless Kansas, UNC, Dook, Memphis, Stanford and UT completely collapse.

FC,

You have 6 teams vying for 4 spots. At 30-4 XU would at least be in the conversation with those other 6.

It is all fantasy of course since we are imagining XU at 30-4 we can also image other factors outside of XU's control going their way as well.

I understand what you are saying but I doubt X would be in that conversation, even at 30-4. The voters are less likely to give a #1 to X over the teams listed above as much as it sucks.

Good thing the voters don't pick or seed the teams and the committee does. I agree though that a 30-4 XU team will not get the same consideration as a 30-4 Kansas team for example.

Sorry no math degree but Palm projects us at 26-5 with a RPI ranking of 7. Of course he figures this only against "known opponents" so he does not include tournament games.

His formula is based on the team with the current higher RPI and a bonus for the home team ... so without the math skills I guess his formula makes the remaining loss at Dayton which is currently 20?

It's just what somebody thinks ...

Sorry, I meant committee.

X can lose 1 more game (St Joes wouldnt surprise me) and make the A10 finals to secure that #2 seed.

To start, they need to get real refs for the A-10 tournament not the hacks they get in the regular season. One good ref in a group of three is not enough.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

When Xavier wins out the next 5 games of conference play, 3 games in conference tourney, 6 games in the NCAA, Sean Miller will have won 99 games in 4 years. Presently he is 85 - 36 by my calculations.
