ok muskieman...your right and i'm wrong. after all love is doing the best that he can...62 percent isn't all that bad ...there is no need for him to try to get better. There are many people in the world that can't even shoot 50 percent so lets give love a round of applause and congradualate him on trying his hardest. he doesn't need to improve in this area. if 62 percent is good for you muskieman...then it is good enough for me.

So you go from goofy to foolish in your statements. Still you make me laugh. Your 62 to 82 percentage before you are satisfied is the hoot.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Always the pessimist.... Love is 23/31 from the line since the Bonnie game. According to my calculation that is approx. 74%.....>>

Read my post again; I was defending Love, not criticizing him.

For the season, Love's shooting .619 at the FT line, 8th on the team for guys with over 12 attempts.
I read your post and I was simply stating the facts you doubted....

<<I don't know about that.>>

I see the problem, jh. My opening phrase wasn't in response to YOUR post. It was in response to "millersdad" post.

I don't take issue with your post, other than your selecting a mini-sample of games to base Love's FT performance on, as opposed to the whole season.

Derek Fischer is continually one of the best free throw shooters in the NBA, usually at or above 90%. He stands so far over to the right that he is almost outside of the semi-circle with his right foot. Point being, there are some forms that may be better than others, but the bottom line is that your percentage reflects on how accurately you can duplicate your foul-shooting motion (and how often you decide to practice doing that). As long as Jason is consistent, and he practices often, he will be fine. In no way can you improve 20% by moving your feet if you already practice one way as often as he does. If anything, a drastic change like that could hurt him.

Joetitan-Why is he off balance? David West was a great foul shooter and he was as tall and seldom "off balance?" Biggernlife

agree with jhrelax, it's confidence..he had a different stance than what you see now, worse. his left foot was 2' back from his right foot and was really awkward looking. the coaching staff (miller commented) worked on him to where he is now. when his confidence returns his free throws will start going in. i don't think they decided to make him use the basic, fundamental, classic, coach's manual free throw form, but what he was comfortable with. Confidence is the key word, hopefully it will return at charlotte, nc

First, I don't feel like congradualating anyone. Sounds illegal to me!

Second, you talk a good game and try to sound like you know a lot about the subject, but it seems you really don't. Over the years there have been many different players with many different shots. Some need to have both feet pointed at the hoop, some stand a little sideways, some shoot across their body. Ultimately, the most important thing is the release/follow-through.

Both feet pointed at the hoop, shooting-side foot in line with the center of the rim, other foot back slightly...that's a great starting point and an nice foundation to work from. However, that alone will not work for everyone and adjustments must be made. Trying to make everyone use one particular style will never work and is a horrible way to coach.

Check out how many different stances/swings there are in baseball and golf. It's because each player is different. But, the majority of the good ones are similar when it comes to contact and driving through the ball.

Again, your approach can give a foul shooter a base from which to work, but the shot may need to be adjusted based on the individual. I'm assuming that changes have been made by the coaching staff to Love's shot. The improvement in %, though still low, seems to show that corrections have been made somewhere. Now he just needs to keep working and practicing and he may eventually have a season at or above 70%.

yes...thywillbedone...miller does miss some of the littlestuff...are you saying that miller is perfect, misses nothing and has "arrived" as a coach.....that is a ridiculous statement...miller is still growing as a coach....he is currently a very good coach but he is not a great coach yet...that will take years of coaching experience and he will get better and better...yes miller does miss some of the little things but hopefully he reads this chatboard and fans like me can point out things he may be overlooking....get real thywillbedone!
