OK, there are two theological schools, one in Berkley and the other in Boston area, but that doesn't get it. The Jebbies only claim 28 currently, so I am thinking some school that has gone out of business?

Are we perhaps referencing Notre Dame as the Society was involved there in its earliest years at a bishop's request, but the Society determined it was not feasible to locate a worthwhile institution in such locale.

Wow! I had no idea that there were 29.

Heck with the NCAA and "the Committee" (ARGHHHHHH!). We could do our own national championship.

Losers get five Our Fathers, five Hail Marys, and five Glory Be's. Winners get to drive around in Fr. O'Flaherty's beretta (not the car) and a plenary indulgence, no questions asked. Don't be a skeptic, bet Wilt Chamberlain and most of the former players for UC would have jumped at the chance.

It would be great for the fans but as for Xavier being in such a great conference could mean less 20+ win season and more NIT visits. There is no reason Xavier can't be the Memphis of the A-10. I think losing to OSU was the best thing for this program, I don't why but it just seems like we are getting some great recruits after they watched that game.
a win would'nt have been better? What are you talking about?

I think a WIN would have been the best thing for the program. Hard to imagine we would have somehow LOST recruits because of that...

Well can we get answer? My 1970 XU catalog shows 28 US colleges & universities under the SJ flag. Who's number 29? or is this a riddle?

Sorry I didn't get back after supper, but got too interested in the KU-UT game, and no it's not a riddle.....but I guess maybe a "I was wrong" is in order.
My brother nailed me with "Milford College" which isn't an "open" University, but nevertheless in years gone by did grant degree's.

So, tossing Milford (is it still in existance?) and two other such Jesuit post-high school theology schools (in Berkley and in Boston) ... I and my brother, are WRONG.

28 is the correct answer.

Get you bottle back, Wise. :o
I'm glad you came back to post this. I was beginning to picture a scene like Henry VIII sitting at his banquet table.

Well Jeeze, Milford...there are a number of Jesuit seminaries, or were ....I spent quite some time (3 whole weeks  ) at "Columbiere College" on one rare and totally misinformed vocation.

Wise you bad boy. Write AMDG at the top of your next five posts.
