....I may need to stop watching basketball until the officiating improves.
I cannot beleive what I'm seeing. Offensively, we either get called for an offensive foul, or they hack the crap out of us.
I'm disgusted.
For health reasons....

I'm more disgusted by our tendency to play like SBU once we get a big lead.

Re: For health reasons....
We can't take the ball to the hoop, cause the refs allow Calathes to perform his ballet moves and draw the charge when it's really a block.
We can't post, because the refs allow the little guys to slap out guys in teh hands, and their bigs us their hips and arms (straight up), to muscle our guys off balance.
How can we NOT look like SBU when we can't go into the interior?

From the channelsurfing.net feed, I can't say that X is getting jobbed on the calls. You might be right.
My bigger concern is our lazy passes and lazier, unorganized D.

What I'm seeing is clear. If they don't blow the whistles inside, then we can't operate in there. We get pushed to the perimeter, and they get in our faces to make the shots difficult.
I don't know how a coach can take it. I'd get ejected from every game.
It's time for a "T" from Sean.

I saw exactly what you saw and I try not to focus on the a@@hole zebras that much.mhettel wrote:What I'm seeing is clear. If they don't blow the whistles inside, then we can't operate in there. We get pushed to the perimeter, and they get in our faces to make the shots difficult.

Infuriating is a good way to describe it.

If the officials are allowing rough play inside Xavier has to step up their physical play also. They have to adjust to the referrees.mhettel wrote:What I'm seeing is clear. Another poorly officiated game from my perspective....Calathes traveled at least 5 times without a call. Numerous no calls on St. Joe's hacking us close to the basket. It was obvious to me that they were trying to keep the game close.........

Re: For health reasons....
mhettel, I agree completely with you. I am not one to focus on refs when it comes to outcomes of games. However, today was ridiculous. There were times when Duncan, CJ and Love were underneath trying to shoot and there were four SJU players flailing away at them and the refs never made a call. On the other end, they called on foul on Derrick before he even touched Calathas. Ridiculous!
In all, I think they called the game tighter against X than SJU. That allowed SJU to play physical with the confidence that no fouls would be called against them. The opposite was true for X and in some ways led to them being tentative. Now, that doesn't excuse X's 9 or 10 second half turnovers. Fortuantely, despite all of that X gutted out a big win.
Oh, and when Nivens fouled out he had a big sarcastic smile on his face as if to say, "how dare you?" I think Martelli gets the benefit of the doubt sometimes. Just my opinion.
