Joe said Drew walked by them and slapped hands and said let's get out of here.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

That was one of the most satisfying wins I have ever attended. Lisch is a stud, but the X-men are men, who made buckets when it counted.

SLU will be good next year, but not this year.

what a game, or should i say what a last 2 min. The crowd was pretty amped but looks small in the scottrade (20,000) the student section was great and huge, a big game for them but a great showing to be sure. X seemed to play in 2-6 min intervals the whole game up 6, up 14, up 6, up13, up 4, up11...tied ext
this was frusterating especially given the comments of some of the bills fans around (have they even made the nit in the last 5 yrs?) but it just made browns put back that much more sweet.
Living in st louis i consider myself lucky stl is back in conferance with x. The last few min of this game took me
back to some of the great x games i saw in the garden...u mass and uc to start, it was insane in that place for the last minute or so

Great win, survive and move on to st Joe

Once again, Brown is the man....As is Lavender, and Burrell, and Anderson, Duncan and even B.J.
In truth, those referees, especially the African American one, stunk. They were strictly homer reactionaries. The last call against X was a no call if I ever saw one. as was the fifth foul on Josh .
Hey, I was at the last game that Xavier won in St. Louis when Derrick Strong and Dino Gaudio got in a shouting match late in the contest with Xavier way ahead.
Strong was guarding Anthony Bonner who had been held in check most of the day. Late in the game with the starters still playing, Bonner, out on the deep wing took one dribble and fired off a shot that went in--a three. I think Xavier's lead shrank to 15 with two minutes left. Anyway, Xavier came right back down, hit a three and Pete pulled all of the starters.
As Strong left the floor he went after Dino. I could see all 6-10 of him right in Dino's face. Derek was bending over him and gesturing wildly , all the time looking like a grizzly bear about to dine on little Dino.
Afterwards, I asked Gaudio what set Strong off like that. It was the only time in the three years I covered him that he really went almost berserk.
Dino's explanation, later confirmed, sheepishly by Strong: "I had prepared the scouting report on St. Louis and told him that Bonner always bounced the ball three times before he shot and Derek should defend him accordingly. Everything was fine until Bonner decided to change his ways and launch one from NBA three-point range. Derek took great pride in two facets of his game, shooting free throws and defense. He told me 'Because of you I looked bad.' Heck, that was one of the few shots he made all night."
Fantastic game tonight. Don't care that the lead melted. Xavier came out with a "W" and was featured all night on ESPN, Sport Center, and ESPN News. And there were no derogatory remarks during the programs.
Now let's get ready for a St. Joe's team that will really be hacked off.
