Let it Begin : Weatherspoon decommits

Postby muskie4106 » Mon Apr 06, 2009 5:02 pm

per rivals.com

Weatherspoon informed Rivals.com via text message that he is no longer committed to Xavier. The text read, "He's going to Arizona. Let everybody know I'm de-committing and re-opening my options."

I expect Frease to think about it and Redford

I think Jackson might, but will not go

Weatherspoon already decommited

Lyons I think will go

Crawford is stuck -- you cannot change schools more than once --- I think

Put it this way I would rather lose Miller than Bobinski --- hopefully he finds the right guy

I would prefer Chris Mack

I am trying to let MIller go and move on

Lyons already sat out this year. You think he wants to do that again.Let's just chill out until a new coach is hired.DWest thought about leaving when Skip left.No player is going to be real happy when their coach leaves.I have a lot of faith in Bobinski.

i agree.....i know Mr. B and love him. I would rather not lose him!!!!

We will be back on top....when I say let it begin I mean all the talk of who is leaving who might go....so mise well get my two cents out now

you have a point on Lyons

I just hope these players realize the talent they have and how far they could go with it next year.

Go MR B

Why? Wouldn't you quit your job for another job that paid twice as much? I would.

I don't blame Miller for taking the money, and that is what he did--he took the money. What I really wish is that a coach, be that Miller or Calipari or any of these guys who leave for the money, would just say that. I'd have more respect for Miller if he came out and said "I love coaching at Xavier but Arizona is going to pay me so much money that I have to take it. I'd be a fool not to. This will provide for me and my children and my grandchildren. If someone offers me double what I'm making at Arizona in a few years, I'll take that too. Thats life, and you know you'd do the same. Good luck, Muskies. I hope you can keep your little miracle basketball program going. "

He did mention at the press conference the chance to win a national champioship at Arizona. He caught himself by saying Xavier is capable of that but you wonder if he really believed that.If he doesn't, I don't blame him.I don't think we can win it all.

Weatherspoon is the loser if he does not go to Xavier. Xavier has the best chance of going to the Final Four within the next 5 years or within the next 2 years because of the players on board now. The players decide the game because they play it, not the coach. Weatherspoon if you go elsewhere, you will not be a starter ,whereas you can start at X....and X will be a top 10 or 20 team in the country...most other schools will not. Come to X and be a winner and a starter.

If Miller feels that a national championship can be won more easily at Arizona whey would he want to take any of his recruits with him? He could have won with them at X!

Frease said he wanted to be the Odem of Xavier, not play for Miller. Redford was recruited my X and mostly lower majors. He has now tasted the big time, why change? No doubt he could average 18-20 at North Carolina-Wilmington or Davidson or maybe most Patriot league schools, but at X he can average 10-12 and go to the big dance every year and play on TV every game.

Politicians and basketball coaches--who can you trust? Fortunately, we (X) will survive.

I liked Miller's style, treatment of the players in the press and his demeanor on and off the court. I hope he can do well. Seven years/13 million should gived him financial security and if it does not work out he can go the way of Pete and Rafferty and Lavin and Lappas many others and call the games on ESPN, etc. Not a bad life!

Would X take Gillen back????
