Marquette game thread
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Well, with the brawl at the Providence game with a 19 minute delay, the X game will probably not going to get much airtime on TNT and True/TV

Re: Marquette game thread
We have 51 points at halftime. We had 65 the whole game last time vs Marquette. All Wright ... Was that really him? We let up a little at the end of the half but great first half. Don't really like taking 22 three point shots in the first half but we did make 11 of them. Marquette doesn't look ready to play.

Re: Marquette game thread
Pleased someone used common sense and put the X-Marquette game on TRU-TV at the opening tip.
Okay, I recognize Tre Carroll’s scoring, rebounding and leadership value to the team. However, he cannot dribble a lick and is a turnover machine when he tries to go end to end and play hero ball. His predictable turnover at 3:33 allowed Marquette to close the 21 point gap. Nit picky? Maybe, but with a team that loses games on the margins, observed this Carroll flaw all-too-often throughout the season.
Let’s Go X!

Poor second half start. Marquette has 21 points in 7 minutes. Better start playing some defense.

Put Anderson back in. We are on our heels again. Need to defend and play much harder.

Happy we could hang on. Milicevic and Filiph with the winning plays. We gave up 53 points in the second half. Wright and Moore were god awful on defense. The freshman James had 30 points and 12 assists. Both teams are not good but we hung on. Robinson had a huge step back. He played like he did most of the year. Our defense is really poor.

Re: Marquette game thread
The Musketeers did just enough to hold on …. another Stress Test game!
May have missed it because I did a couple of other brief things in the 2nd Half as a distraction. Did X play much, if any, Zone Defense? Marquette ranks #276 in three point shooting percentage. Marquette dominated points in the paint 56-24. Might some zone been in order? That said, possibly Coach Pitino knows the team is even weaker playing zone.
Nonetheless, a needed win; good work on the boards, clutch free throw shooting and bled the clock fairly well down the stretch. Dinner will taste better tonight (on the Southwest Side and Suburbs plenty of friends who are Marquette grads and/or their children now there). Can proudly wear my X running man hat when we all meet for simulator golf tomorrow!

Re: Marquette game thread
Good points on earlier posts. Giving up 53 points in a half to Marquette is ridiculous and we don't even seem to try on defense at times. I have given props to Richard this season, but running out of timeouts at home early in the second half with a lead is inexcusable. Not to mention some of the lineups, I know we are not deep but having Walker, Arob, and Filip in at the same time is a recipe for disaster. I guess Walker did not get Tyrice's athleticism. I'm surprised Tre only had three turnovers, which seemed like 8. Jovan and Wirght played well on offense. I can't believe we can't guard the pick and roll since it has should have been taught when they were in elementary. ARob played almost ten minutes and didn't get a rebound? Nice to see we picked up another recruit. MU's frosh guard is a handful.
