Seton Hall game thread

Postby muskieman » Fri Dec 22, 2023 12:16 pm

Saturday 2 PM

TV FS1

Last meeting X 82 SH 60 2/24/23

Seton Hall, at 8-4, will be coming into Cintas on a 3-game winning streak, beating Missouri (93-87) and riding their biggest win as Seton Hall beat No. 5 UConn 75-60 in the Huskies' most significant margin of loss at USF in January 2020.

Kadary Richmond's 23 points were a season-high, and his eight steals were a career-high for the senior guard, who was the fuel that ignited Seton Hall's onslaught on both ends of the court. He also dished out five assists and racked up six boards.
SH controlled the post, out-scoring UConn 46-34 in the paint, but it must be pointed out that 7'2 center Donovan Clingan did not play due to injury.

Seton Hall averages 75.6 points per game while allowing only 68.6 games. They average 37.2 rebounds and 13.2 assists.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Surprised by spread. I hope Sean has a better game today than he did vs St John’s when he was totally schooled by Pitino.. let’s Go X!!!!

Schooled by Pitino? Or maybe it was that the team just did not shoot their average, as X shot less than 35% from the field and 19% from three. Maybe they were not ready, but it was their first BE game, and on the road. Blaming the coach for that game means you should be blaming Pitino for his team shooting only 66% from the line or being outrebounded.

Sean may have overestimated the talent, and that would be on him, but one game in the BE is too soon for that.

Or maybe we should recognize that SJU was playing zone. Our only answer on offense was to beat them down the court before they set up otherwise it was one on one. Maybe that is why we shot that %. I love Sean but it was not his best game. Olivari takes 2 shots in the first half that should not happen.

Very good defensive start. We should be up by 10 though. missing a lot of close shots . Very good start by Ousmane.

Ousmane is having a GREAT GAME. Ousmane is having his best half of the year. Zones are not our friend.

Just make a layup, guys. Ref inconsistent on pushes in the back. So far it has been the teams that can't shoot

Xavier is playing very physical. Outstanding defensive effort so far. Both teams have missed a ton of close shots. Ciani has played well too. however when he gets the ball he always brings it down so they can swipe at it. Claude is struggling on the offense end.

I expect SH to shoot much better in the second half but overall not bad other than our defense on their last 2 possessions
