Re: Tomorrow!!
Coach K hasn’t been accepted by AT&T yet so he is still available.
I will say I like the St Peters coach. Not sure how long he’s coached, but handles himself well. Gave all the credit to his players. Soft spoken but confident. Not suggesting him for X cause I don’t know enough about him or his experience. But impressed me last night, during and after their game. Got in players face when needed and seem to have his players with him.

Re: Tomorrow!!
SC offered but Miller is willing to wait for X to get their ducks in a row with an offer which seems like a good thing for X. SC must fear this because they are interviewing other possible candidates, in Atlanta. Of course, if X fools around too much, and how much is too much is the question, Sean could get tired of waiting and just sign the SC offer.
b I think this weekend is an important time frame, not so much as to get Sean signed but to get him what X is willing to do and offer.
Also for skyhops, because of his love, the Mack team has put out some feelers to keep their guy in the mix if the Miller situation goes South...see what I did there. Most I talk to say Chris' Fubar is too soon to take any serious consideration in his return but never say never. I have not heard of any other coach in the mix but then I do not have the AD on speed dial like when Bobo was here. I do know that a certain X admin has been trying to deflect information and I can guess who that is because he has called me about things the admin didn't like on this board.
Anyway, to sum up...Miller as of this morning has not taken the SC job but has received an offer. X's AD and Pres. are working on X's response, which to this point Miller has been acceptable to wait.
Let's hope for a good weekend for X on and off the court. and a PS we never know what program will be firing their or retires their coach so who knows where we are on Monday or the end of next week.

I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Re: Tomorrow!!
Mman,
First of all, as a Co-Mod, and you being my mentor, I don’t appreciate being called out. I have said since Day One consistently that “In Christoper I trust.”
I will say when Christopher and I had boneless wings at Smokey Joe’s las……oooops……scratch that. I have been optimistic since yest morning, and remain so. Enough said.
Either way, I loves me that way Christoper has handled this. A move had to be made. The fact that it was done after he had a phone call with an influential Board Mod is….possibly, purely coincidental.

Re: Tomorrow!!
Just being realistic: there is no way XU can compete financially with SC. Sean left to Arizona for $2.9mm/year and Mack left to Louisville for $4m/year. Martin was making $3.3mm/year at SC before he was let go. I don't see XU being able to come up with > $2mm/year for anyone. Just a sad reality.muskieman wrote: ↑Fri Mar 18, 2022 2:11 pmSC offered but Miller is willing to wait for X to get their ducks in a row with an offer which seems like a good thing for X. Re: Tomorrow!!
If money was the primary consideration, he wouldn’t be coveting the X gig. He loved X, and apparently regretted leaving at some point. Like 90% of coaches who leave Top 25 programs, the tier below Blue Bloods, the grass usually isn’t greener. More money, but also more pressure to win, without many more resources than X.XU Rocks! wrote: ↑Fri Mar 18, 2022 4:31 pmmuskieman wrote: ↑Fri Mar 18, 2022 2:11 pmSC offered but Miller is willing to wait for X to get their ducks in a row with an offer which seems like a good thing for X. They take chartered flights, have private chefs, great facilities and one of the most successful CBB programs two decades before Steele (not trying to throw shade at him, just pointing out a fact).
I think unless there is something in the contract he doesn’t like in the contract (i.e. overly stringent morals clause) or X discovers something in their due diligence, he will be at X.

Re: Tomorrow!!
I don't see a problem with the salary, X has donors that will pony up just like they have done for Mack and Travis. Heck AH alone could finance Miller and all his assistants and still make that $1 mill donation every year. And remember Sean is damaged goodsXU Rocks! wrote: ↑Fri Mar 18, 2022 4:31 pmJust being realistic: there is no way XU can compete financially with SC. Re: Tomorrow!!
If you want X to win and you think they can’t pay >2MM for anyone now, it is either time to stop being a fan or prepare to be sorely disappointed. If X cannot pay Miller, or someone of his ilk, greater than 2MM, then we are in over our heads and will forever be, at best, middle of the pack in the current league. We either poo or get off the pot or accept mediocrity (with the occasional lucky run).
However, if it’s true Steele was making 1.6 or 1.8MM, as was recently reported, I sure hope there is a way to muster substantially more for the right coach, i.e., Sean Miller.

Re: Tomorrow!!
I thought I read that Mack made over 2 million with his basketball camp and other side benefits. Miller is a lot better coach than Mack is. If we believe that we are a top 20 program and want to get a big name coach we need to pay him and his assistant's. Xavier is in a much better position to make a long run in the tournament than South Carolina. The Big East is a lot easier league to have a top 20 ranking. Kentucky, LSU, Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Tenn and Vandy are all tough teams. Far tougher than the Big East. I think Xavier can't pay or attract the big name coaches. I consider Miller a top 10 coach and the only coach of that caliber to consider Xavier. If we want to be a top program ( and we all do ) than pay the man and stop f-ing around .We have had 25 years of good coaches until Steele. Looking from the outside it seems pretty clear that Miller would like to come back. Almost all of us would love to have him back. So quit messing around and pay the man. If he is suspended for some games we will have to deal with it. Go X and go Miller
