X now , among last 4 in, play in game in Dayton
ESPN Brackets projection as of March 4, 2022 has placed Xavier as an 11 seed, among the last 4 teams to be in the field of 68, and must play in the Dayton 8 group just to make the field of 64.

I don’t see us winning the next two games, so we are not getting I .

i'm not going to say i'm overly confident about beating Butler, but we match up well with them. we only beat them by 2 at home the last time we played. that was our last win before going on our "losing 7 of 8" skid. Nate went 0-6 that game. not saying Nate is gonna go off at MSG but having him back healthy for this team is HUGE. he's a difference maker on both ends.
i think we beat Butler by like 5 or 6 points on Wednesday. who knows what will happen vs Prov.
let's just get Butler, get in the tourney, and get behind our boys.
LET'S GO!

respect your take 'Skip but disagree. Should we prevail vs Butler, I think that gives us a chance but by no means assures us a ticket to the dance. IMHO that puts us in that 11 seed to 1st four out range beating Butler then losing to Prov. There will be quite a few teams in that range who do come up with that one extra quality win over this final week. Beating G-Town did nothing for us but to have averted a death-blow loss. Sadly a potential Butler win is also not going to move the needle much, other than making us hold our breath and have a bottle of vodka handy come 6pm next Sunday...
Need two 'dubs in NY Xavier Nation to sleep soundly come this weekend. We dug this hole, time to dig our way out..

Obviously irrelevant at this point but X was not in the tournament prior to the Butler game. Beating Butler may have given X hope but they were likely to not make it without another win.
It is time to fire the coach and put anyone, and I do mean anyone, in his place to coach the NIT. Give the Seniors a chance to compete in the NIT. Head cheerleader as coach. Maybe the baseball coach. Doesn't matter who, but give the players a chance to win.

No NIT please. I already have been wearing my Groucho Marx mustache and glasses for the fourth year a row in Feb and March. I have no doubt Steal will be back with Thurston Howell the Third as his FIL, but I’d rather he focus on more motivational techniques mocked by the players like:
- Tye dye shirt Thursdays
-The Lampost Award for the most accommodating defender (Free-Bluiett and Scruggs would have run away with it this year).
-The Marcia Brady Award for the player on the bench who cheers the loudest.
-Oh, one more. The least Catatonic Coach game award for the one who points out important things like telling their players RIGHT AFTER A TIMEOUT whether to foul or not, instead of talking about how to make a mean mug to intimidate his opponent. You cannot spell Travis Steal without John Brannon.

I’m thinking that wins by IU and A&M have sealed our fate. Both should vault over X. Some teams win when they have to.
