Re: Creighton game thread
To answer your question, I was in my kitchen cooking up a big batch of crow. The second half is what this team should be mor the most part game in, game out. Seasons are defined by moments, hoping this win puts X back on the right track to stay.

I wasn't thinking about you when I posted but I knew you were the only one to have the B... to respond. Amazing how good a coach looks when the ball goes through the hoop. Travis putting Jack out top just killed their Big guy's effectiveness. Let's hope Nate has stopped the slump
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Didnt watch the game, so a box score analyst today. I will give Travis credit for sticking with Nate and encouraging him to keep shooting. Looks like we won on the glass and had the the 3 point game rocking. Even though Creighton is not a very good team, a road win in the BE is a good win.

Re: Creighton game thread
Been my experience that Xavier does well when I don't watch. Turned the game off in the first half.

Re: Creighton game thread
I have the B...'s Plus, Coach Steel owes me. I did everything I could to tempt the sports gods by bragging to my wife at halftime how I was all set to win some nice dinner $$. Presto, Jack hits three 3's and the Jays get a lump in their throat.
But seriously, nice win, nice fortitude. Can't keep digging these holes. Maybe, just maybe, this recaptures some of our early season swag. Travis is right, confidence is the mother of all drugs. We won by making an unbelievable % behind the arc 2nd half, which can be fools gold, but also started to play well on offense in general last 10 minutes with fantastic ball movement and spacing. That is a great sign. Plus D was outstanding all 2nd half. best sign, we won majority of 50/50 balls second half. OK, HUGE win. Just imagine a universe where we came out flat 2nd half and lost by 14 or so, not pretty. That's how big this was. Let's build on this.

but you forget some on here claim McDermitt is a much better coach who has not schooled Travis in the last three games.Jesseandrippers wrote: ↑Sat Jan 29, 2022 4:25 pm

Re: Creighton game thread
27-2 run to come back from down 19 at half time. Someone check the Xavier record books please on both the run and the halftime deficit we overcame.
This team has lost five games this season (which is better than 80% of CBB and against the 20th best SOS according to KenPom). In only one of the losses were we beaten for the full 40 minutes (@Nova). The other four games were close, and in three of them we fought back from major deficits in the first half. Only Iowa State edged us out when we were up 1 at halftime.
This team has had some bad starts and shoots poorly at times. But anyone who thinks they do not have heart or drive to win has not actually watched a single game. That was a huge road win.
Hopefully the ball starts falling. If Johnson is back, we could be in great shape!

Re: Creighton game thread
Well, you could have knocked me over with a feather. The 2nd Half was an incredible effort on both ends of the court.
Props to the Coaching Staff and Players for that impressive turnaround. A much needed W in a tough venue. Creighton may be somewhat down, yet remain a formidable foe in their own Arena.
Someone should give Jack Nunge the keys to the City!
Dinner will taste better this evening.

He may be a better coach than Travis. I dont follow the Jays close enough to say one way or another. However, the Muskies were better today. Im also not ready to share your agape for Travis because he beat Creighton. Creighton just got hammered by a sub .500 Butler team the game prior to this one. Take the win.muskieman wrote: ↑Sat Jan 29, 2022 4:29 pmbut you forget some on here claim McDermitt is a much better coach who has not schooled Travis in the last three games.Jesseandrippers wrote: ↑Sat Jan 29, 2022 4:25 pm

you may say his team is down but Travis has beaten him three straight and deserves credit for doing it on McD's home courtJesseandrippers wrote: ↑Sat Jan 29, 2022 4:36 pmHe may be a better coach than Travis.
