Johnson should be the only guy with the green light to shoot treys in the starting five. Just a pure stroke.

Nice job of Kunkel to not force a bad three, and instead, drive into the lane for a ten-foot in-the-lane shot. Va Tech is playing zone. but Johnson's shooting will force them out of it.

VA Tech continues to play zone with Johnson being the only good outside shooter. Wonder if Steele will adjust?

Edit: Nice move with Kyky coach!

TS adjusts to zone and I liked that when Kyky hit the three because he was met by a teammate with a hug. Keep going Kyky. Make them have to play you
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

As usual, I agree with you. Nice to see the hug was by his main competition for PT. It says a lot about Kunkel's character in my eyes.

Good 1st half. Most of Va Tech's shots were contested. The good:

6-12 from three. Amazing how this percentage goes up on the right guys (mainly Johnson) take the shots. Hopefully, Hunter is taking mental notes.
Tandy getting PT and delivering. He had a bad foul, but even he is playing better D than Scruggs, who has had a hell of a rough tourney.
Johnson taking the bull by the horns and showing why he should get the green light three steps after passing half court.
Edwards getting his feet wet with meaningful minutes. Not playing great, but hard to expect any more from him. More mobile than I expected.
My Coach has managed a great half. However, X will not shoot in the mid-fifties the whole game. Need to have more guys cutting in the zone, because VA Tech will extend their zone. Surprised they didn't play more man as well.

The bad:
As mentioned, Scruggs D and overall offense this entire tourney.
Stanley struggling to find an identity. Definitely too slow to guard a three.

also like he actually got into a defensive stance. This could be his game if he, along with Nate and Adam con shoot the three at a higher percentage and play decent enough D to keep VT from going on any runs.

I don't like Ben outside doesn't have the handle. I want to see Ben Inside when Jack takes the three

Inevitable. Va Tech should just play box in one on Johnson. I wish Stanley could be that guy who catches it in the middle and can turn and score or pass out. That is what X needs offensively this half, the role Jones would be playing.

Nunge's timing on blocks is as good as Hankins. Just a horrible read by Kyky. Why force a lane dribbling parallel to the basket into the corner?
