Re: Oklahoma game thread 12/9
Fun game.
Not sure how good Oklahoma is but they have some talent. Amazing how differently things look when a team knocks down shots.
It was tough to see separation between starting unit and the rest but that is starting to become more visible over the past couple games. Griffin will continue to get minutes and it appears Jones is likely a key part of the game.
Not sure how Tandy and Kunkel fit into the minutes but have a feeling it will be a combination of who is hot and effort on defense. Tandy should see a bigger role next year after Scruggs is gone.
If Scruggs keeps up the efficiency, he is going to play himself into the draft. He was hot from deep today but that isn't required as long as his attempts are limited when shots are not falling. Finishing around the rim, drawing fouls and finding guys in scoring position should be enough when combined with his defense.
Amazing game for Johnson. He was a great get.
Free was also impressive but might give Johnson the edge on overall performance.

My only reaction to this games is: OH MY!!!!!!!
Mark Twain was wrong. Golf is NOT a good walk spoiled. It is a shared personal experience in a majestic wonderland guided by God, whose name is called frequently during the round.

Kunkel looks FAR from Redford at this point. Oklahoma had "Redford" on their team. That dude dropped like 2 or 3 LOOOOOONG 3's.X-Expert wrote: ↑Wed Dec 09, 2020 10:03 pmNot really following this one. Do you mean shooters as in 3 point shooters. Naji was a scorer but not a good shooter. Bluitt was a great shooter and scorer and Johnson looks to be the same. Odom is not a shooter or a scorer but runs the offense very well because he is so poised. Carter is not a shooter or a scorer but again, played great D on their stud. Point being, you need balance and so far, looks like X has that. This team has multiple shooters that opens things up to drive. Seven different players hit 3s. Scruggs, Odom. and Tandy can drive. Kunkel i hope is Brad Redford reincarnated. Will not beat you off the dribble but can shoot. Personally, i wouldn't be surprised if one player does not finish the season with X.Xavier2005 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 09, 2020 9:32 pmI have said for years.....recruit "scorers" not "shooters" Anyone can shoot but few can be scorers. This year these players , the team looks like scorers.

We all need to savor this performance! They simply could not have played better as a team.
Oklahoma did not play badly but X could have beaten any and everyone in the country last night.

Re: Oklahoma game thread 12/9
there is ZERO chance that we shoot 59.4% or better from 3 in a game. it won't happen. not saying we won't shoot well from 3 in other games but that's just incredible considering the amount of them that we shot.
either way, that game was FUUUUUUUN to watch. my goodness.
let's freaking GOOOOOO!

Re: Oklahoma game thread 12/9
Kunkel was off last night, fortunately he was the only one. No worries though as I was watching him specifically several different times. He hustles on D and was passing well and seems to understand when he is open and when it would be a forced shot. Nice compliment to bring off bench and compete to make entire team better. He is extremely quick and sets his feet well on the catch. As for rest of game, as many have mentioned, simply WOW...
Put this one in the memory banks as a joyful accomplishment. Now, it's on to Providence on a relatively short turn time. We will be able to bring exactly zero points over from our Oklahoma surplus.
But I do like our overall versatility and ball movement trends
