Re: UC Game Thread
We handled this situation( UC)with poise from the Hc on down to the last man on the bench. Steele impressed me with his substitutions showing the kids he believes in them. Totally different team from the past two , no doubt. And man we are young....Liked their attitude.....also liked he plunked down 2 large on the bar at Dana's.

Re: UC Game Thread
love to know if anyone else besides me was annoyed that the refs kept being focused on telling Xavier's bench to sit down. l bet like 4 times the refs is shown waving his hand up and down to tell them to sit. Why does he even care? there's no fans behind them. who cares if they're standing, cheering, and having fun?
i just don't understand why it's the refs job. if it's truly an NCAA rule that they can't stand, then fine, but have someone else be in charge of that, not the refs. they have too much to worry about to have to watch the benches to see if they're standing up or not. so dumb, IMO.
also, that was the absolute WORST call on Freemantle being over the FT line on his FT. the ball was clearly already in the cylinder when he went over to try and rebound it. that was bad. that ref should be suspended for a call like that. that just CANNOT happen at this level.

Re: UC Game Thread
I agree. The Freemantle free throw call and the T on the big from UC were just god awful. The refs were looking for something to call in both instances. The game was well played and there are no need for those type of whistles.longliveskip wrote: ↑Mon Dec 07, 2020 11:33 amlove to know if anyone else besides me was annoyed that the refs kept being focused on telling Xavier's bench to sit down. l bet like 4 times the refs is shown waving his hand up and down to tell them to sit. Re: UC Game Thread
That was the best game Steele has coached yet. I was very impressed. Much more optimistic about our future than I was a month ago.joeabe wrote: ↑Mon Dec 07, 2020 11:03 amWe handled this situation( UC)with poise from the Hc on down to the last man on the bench. Not a huge fan of the Dana's stuff. Steele has back to back 19 win seasons and would have missed the dance in both. Build a resume then be cocky.

Re: UC Game Thread
i don't think the Dana's stuff has anything to do with being "cocky". About building a rapport with the students and fanbase so they know how much he appreciates them.sweet67 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 07, 2020 11:59 amThat was the best game Steele has coached yet. Re: UC Game Thread
Sweet good call pointing out the T. Cant hide your bearkitten stripes. UC continues to make excuses of only playing one game. That's on the coach. They should have scheduled more games to prepare for their superbowl. UC frankly is irrelevant except in Cincinnati because of the alumni base. 1 S-16 in like 25 years. X has now won 6 of 8 and 10 of 14 and 15 of 22. Their best coach (who also got the team in trouble for violations 3 different times) huggins was 8-8 vs X at UC and 0-2 when at KSU and WVU. Mick was 5-9 and those before Mick like Kennedy never beat X. Felt bad for DeJulues crying because you know, this game doesn't mean much to UC. Always got a kick out of Cronin saying those types of things while he was bringing pizza to the fans before the shootout for camping out in the one game every two years they would sell out. Sweet, you have inspired me to get on the Bearcat forum and they are pissed at me. All i did was remind them of X's record. That damn T.sweet67 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 07, 2020 11:57 amI agree. Is XU relevant outside of Cincy and their alumni base? I dont see us making much noise nationally or getting much attention.

Re: UC Game Thread
I'm a Xavier grad and live and die with every game. But I think if you live outside of Cincinnati this game is not as big a deal. Especially since we are in the Big East. I'd much rather beat Nova. And the tournament is definitely more important to me than beating UC. But then I don't have to put up with anyone who went to UC. I'm stuck listening to obnoxious IU fans. I never admit that aside from the times they played X, I have never watched an IU game, either on purpose or by accident. So I get it, but win and move on. Oklahoma is probably gonna be pretty good.

Re: UC Game Thread
I usually read the other teams boards, win or lose, I’ve been on BCJ and I’m sorry it’s hilarious. This might be the most irrational post I’ve ever read
And I Quote.—-The two minutes good and two minutes bad really stood out to me as well. Other than the two or three 7-0 runs, the 6-0 run to end the half, early run to start game, and big run at end (which I get is a lot of runs) UC really beat X up the rest of the game. UC had the chance to put them away and kept the door open. Laziness on Defense led to really quick 7-0 runs and then they tightened. If the D could have tightened after any 4-5 point lead this game would have ended differently.
So in effect when X wasn’t playing well UC kicked ****. If you take away all the points X scored UC did well. I usually don’t comment on other teams posts but this time I couldn’t help myself. Call Rod Serling the Twilight Zone exists.
