looked at Jan 2018 home win in OT against Gtown
2 years ago, Blair, Pickett, Moseley where on the court and combined for 46 points when we needed a Trevon 4 pt play to put the game to OT AT HOME and win it. Add Terrell Allen who had 22 against Butler last week. The centers combined for 11 pt and 12 rebounds. The walk on both played 12 min and had 4 pts. We played poorly no doubt but this was not the Little Sisters of the Poor(which everyone’s father asked you if you played if you came home and say "we won"). A road win is a road win, the the Carter/Freemantle double block on Wahib was my biggest surprise of the year. They got a home whistle and we did not play smart for sure. By the way in that OT win, Tyrique went 10-10 from foul line. Another lifetime ago

Re: Georgetown Game Thread
So many questions and we are in March with a Veteran Team and a coaching staff in their second year:
1.) How can our offensive efficiency be this bad.
2.) How does our best player continue to turn the ball over, Naji with 7 turnovers, including one that he let slip by him into the backcourt??
3.) Naji gets three charge fouls against Mosely, perhaps after the second time, you reconsider this move to the basket?
4.) With our offense going scoreless late in the first half for over 4 minutes and Travis NEVER uses his "use or lose" first half timeout?????
5.) Why is Travis complaining to the officials when he should be directing his team to take care of the basketball, 12 turnovers in 1st half???
6.) How can we not make better passes into the post??

Re: Georgetown Game Thread
I’m thinking they’ll get the answers here on MM. I posted about Naji’s poor pct on step back threes at the end of the half and he goes out and wins a game on the step back three. Maybe they’ll fix these things to shut us up LOL. One thing they have done that maybe no other BE team has, they did not lose to a team below them, no matter how ugly the wins. A win vs Butler next week could lock them in despite their poor play this year.

Yes, they should have fouled. Well, wait a minute, maybe not. Because after Gtown made the two foul shots, anything could have happened.
And with this XU team, Bless their fighting hearts, ANYTHING happens quite often.
And by the way, Muskieman, I looked it up. Yes, it is Bette. Got that, BETTE? It's gonna be on the exam.

Re: Georgetown Game Thread
I'll take a crack at #2. Naji, like Paul, tends to dribble the ball too high and many times away from their body and when they drive also have a tendency to drop their head (partial answer to #3) so they don't see the D coming. If you have a copy of the game you will see that Naji when he dribbles the ball behind his back in traffic he loses the handle, today Paul was dribbling and when he tried to stop the ball just kept going out of bounds. On the positive side, Naji had some very good assists today when he drove and dished which is why he had 5 assists.XU80 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 01, 2020 8:12 pmSo many questions and we are in March with a Veteran Team and a coaching staff in their second year:

As for #6 did you notice that Ty was getting a lot of attention in the post?
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

We called her Aunt Ruth because her real name was actually Ruth Elizabeth and that is the correct answer to the exam. Never like Ruth but that is why my daughter's middle name is Elizabeth.edgecliff hall wrote: ↑Sun Mar 01, 2020 9:34 pmYes, they should have fouled. Well, wait a minute, maybe not. Re: Georgetown Game Thread
On to Prov! Our boys manage to pluck a 'Dub from the trash bin yesterday. No need to even dwell on that masterpiece, Naji shot a "no-no-no- - - YES!" step back, stone cold 3 for the dagger. Hell, I ain't even going to question how or why we won. I will say I wish Steele could find a way to insert Moore a few minutes each game. Last few minutes yesterday we had plenty of time outs and would have loved to see Moore and Tandy combined for a little "offense / defense" rotation. But I digress.
Can we beat Prov? We are actually one of the few BE teams that matches up well with their preferred style. Can Paul stay out of foul trouble...? Need Freemantle to compete on the blocks. Need to keep T/O's under 16, (seemingly takes a miracle these days to even conceive of that...) Carter still struggling to compete with BE athletes but is contributing. His outside shot has been more consistent and we will need him to have the stones to take 3 or 4 of those when open Wednesday.
Both teams need this one bad. My thoughts, first 8 minutes will be crucial. We take their first punch without going to the canvas, and we can get a heroic road kill....

Re: Georgetown Game Thread
the turnovers on both sides and the refs made this game completely unwatchable. it wasn't even fun to watch us pull out the win.
i'm not one to ever blame the refs, but this was the WORST game of the season for the officials. easily. it's not even close.
however, some of the turnovers are just unacceptable, especially from Scruggs and Naji. they just don't value the ball, for some reason. not sure why. Scruggs basically fouled out because of turning it over, when he lost the ball after a rebound for no reason and then grabbed the guy going after the ball.
we need to be better at taking care of the ball (seems like i've typed this and heard it from several posters on here before. not sure, though)
either way, it's a road win in the league.
i think we can get these next two, win a game in the BE tourney and play our way into a 7 seed. most likely sitting on the 8-9 line when the brackets come out, though.
