Naji 1v5 Again
Another wasted play at the end of a half. Naji goes 1 on 5 and ends with his patented step back while 4 other players watch. Pitiful last minute. 10 threes in the first half means more three attempts in second half. Hope they can make a few.

And Steele lets it continue to happen. Run a play. We need to hit the boards.

Only 5 TOs first half then lazy passes in the second half and turn it over three quick times

Q had a nice game to today. If he can take it to the hole and get a foul and and play good D that is good for X.

Re: Naji 1v5 Again
Ty was lethargic. He only had 5 boards, and air-balled a couple of close looks. He's entitled to a bad game, as he has carried X all year. Good to get a win despite being out rebounded at home by 13. Best part of the night was Q's play. He has had a tough year, and has had to put up with idiots on SM, but has remained a good teammate. Happy for him.
His numbers don't jump off the page, but he played good D, and ran a very good point. He got into the paint under control, something Paul struggles with. It also allowed Scruggs not run the point, and look for his shots. Q's play allowed Scruggs to to set up at the three point line and hit some threes. When he has time, he is a very good three point shooter.
Big game at G-town. I think they'll have McClung back as well. Me wants Q guarding him.

Re: Naji 1v5 Again
As mentioned, X was abused badly on the boards last night. I'm not concerned about this, as they have consistently been very good all year in this area, and like Ty's night, were bound for a sub par performance. What is concerning is how consistently DePaul was able to get into the lane and get a number of open looks on back door cuts. They fumbled away at least half a dozen labs on unforced turnovers. Leitao made a great adjustment at halftime and his game plan was working. Now DePaul fans know how X fans felt against St. Johns.

Re: Naji 1v5 Again
It’s a win. By now it is an absolute must for all X fans to just take with a grain of salt the fact that the key players on this year‘s team lack fundamental basketball IQ. That said they do have heart so what the heck. Why we were inexplicably taking an early shot with ample time remaining before halftime allowing Depaul another possession and then watching Naji’s aforementioned one on five escapade when redhot Kyky was poised and open for a right side 3?? Well those are questions we are just going to have to get used to because we’re not going to get an answer. I guess a bigger concern was how lethargic we open the second half. That is inexcusable and has nothing to do with basketball IQ. I suppose we now have to win two of our last three. So be it... doable, I think?

Re: Naji 1v5 Again
We sit about 10 rows behind the X bench and we noticed almost before the game started that Ty looked lethargic. I think he was either battling an injury or wasn't feeling well. I expect him to be back in form against Georgetown. Maybe his mom will make the trek down from Connecticut. That always gives Tyrique a boost.Anti-Homer wrote: ↑Tue Feb 25, 2020 9:29 pmTy was lethargic. He only had 5 boards, and air-balled a couple of close looks.
