Jonas Hayes
Rumor is that Tennessee is offering Jonas Hayes a position on the staff. They are likely losing two coaches to HC roles so the associate head coach position may be available. This position paid just under $450K last year so not certain if X can compete in that space. He was the primary recruiter for Odom so this is disconcerting for X

Re: Jonas Hayes
anyone who becomes an assistant coach wants to become a head coach eventually and move from 6 digit salaries to 7 digit salary...millions$$$. And once a HC making 1 to 2 mil then move to 3 to 4 mil, then 4 to 7 million...it is what it is.

Re: Jonas Hayes
I think the importance of keeping him around cannot be overrated at this point. His link to the south and to Odom bad I believe Daniel Ramsey is important.
We sustained the loss of another coach and appear to be on the right track but to get back to where we were these next two classes need to work out. If suddenly Odom and Ramsey are gone that that’s a big chunk of the future.
I’d suck it up and pay the man.

Throw a wild card into the mix, it appears Rick Barnes is now a possible for UCLA. That possibly is better for the Odon scenario. My bet is that Barnes takes that job. His buyout is 3 million less than Dixon.

Man I’d hate to see Jonas go...fits into the culture so well here at X!

Re: Jonas Hayes
Looks like Tennessee is trying to put a package together to keep Barnes
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Barnes finalized his decision to stay at Tennessee on Monday after the Vols countered with a new deal.

Re: Jonas Hayes
Xavier assistant Jonas Hayes was high on the list for Rick Barnes, but Hayes will remain at X.
Significant news for the Musketeers as they continue to recruit and build the program.
