Well said Anti. Wellage gave us everything he was capable of. Blue collar team player. Great shooter but lack of quickness and strength were just a reality, not his fault. Like you wish we had him another year. If we are to call folks out, what about hardin....? Dude gets in the game for a scant second versus Creighton, then again last evening, and turns it over almost 1st time he touches the ball each game. He needs to transfer IMHO. Just not talented enough - sorry, nice kid. But who are we kidding. Steele MUST hire an older, seasoned game tactician as an addl asst coach. Zero excuse for our inability to run a decent half court set 3 of last 4 possessions in regulation and get either a screen for Scruggs to drive or a low screen off a pick & roll for Hankins to get a touch on the low block. This aint rocket science. We love Naji, he's going to keep improving and already an elite defender. But Good Lord dude, buy a clue, most games you should not be hoisting up half a dozen "3"'s...... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_VrFV5r8cs0

The call always goes to the coach in the $3,000.00 suit.FickforX wrote: ↑Fri Mar 15, 2019 11:56 pmCorrect on the Naji charge on the last shot in regulation. He was clearly in the air and shooting when the guy took 2 steps to be in his way. Clear foul on Villanova and 2 shots. Steele was clearly upset about it in his press conference. O’Connell is a disgrace to all refs. He also made the call on the non foul on Booth’s layup

So who would you have at point if not Q?Scruggs was ok but I'm not sure its his best position. KyKy? Maybe but he's a freshman and thats a lot of responsibility. I'll roll the dice with a senior who has a played a lot.harryfe wrote: ↑Sat Mar 16, 2019 12:13 amQ is always a horrible shooter. Naji sometimes is a little better. As many have said Q has a horrible bb IQ. I would not be at all disappointed if he does not return. He has some nice assists but too many turnovers. And I guess we have said enough about his shooting prowess.

Why can’t KyKy be another Jamie Gladden who pretty much started out of the box? A freshman can do the job if he is good enough. Will KyKy be that guy? We shall see.
This is not to diminish Q at all. I think Q will be better regardless next year. With the pressure of being the PG off if that occurs will make him that much better. Use the off-season to sharpen that shooting, Q!

Hankins leaves some pretty big shoes to fill.
He is certainly on my list of all time favorite players to play for the Musketeers.
His play was outstanding down the stretch.
Goes to show that it can take some time for the grad transfer to mesh into their new team.
Historically X's bigs have not made huge contributions as freshman - see O'Mara, Big Game James Farr, Frease, Reynolds, Robinson. They have taken some time to develop. That said, I would not expect Freemantle or Miles to have a huge impact next year.
Would see X pick up another big via the grad transfer route.

On the end of game charge call on Marshall - if it was called a blocking foul, it would have been ball of bounds for X as they were not in the bonus yet.
It was a tough call.
It seemed to me that the refs were calling blocking almost all night long.
I don't recall any charges being called. If there were, it wasn't many.
That's what kills me is the inconsistency of the refs.
And I thought that Nova was pushing off with their left arms on the dribble but it was never called.
Gillespie definitely did on his one drive for a bucket and Booth gets the Kellen Dunham Award for pushing off with his left arm

Just timing of when the call would be made. If the ref called a block before he shot the ball, it would be ball out of bounds.lionelchalmers0 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 17, 2019 6:46 pmWhy would it be ball out of bounds when Naji was taking a shot?mumuskie87 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 17, 2019 6:27 pmOn the end of game charge call on Marshall - if it was called a blocking foul, it would have been ball of bounds for X as they were not in the bonus yet.

In the end it doesn't matter. Game's over.
Kind of like debating the PI non-call in the NFC Championship game.
It's not like the game is going to be played over again.

Re: BET - Nova Game Thread 3-15-19
While the ball was out of his hand before he hit the Nova player a block would have been a shooting foul because he was in the act of shooting so it would have been two shots either way. He was not on the floor. But let say the ref called no foul on either then the rebounder Jones would have had a putback at the rim and my bet it would have been a dunk. Just like the push by the old man of OSU the game is over and all you can say is "if the ref had only done the only thing he is asked to do, which is making the correct call.mumuskie87 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 17, 2019 6:55 pmJust timing of when the call would be made. I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.
