Great effort by all the players in this one.

Games like these do little for my psyche but do put a grin on my face.

As well as the rare times when he makes them. A step in catch and shoot 3 at the top of the key is the only place he should be shooting them from. He played a very good game outside of his low IQ shooting selection.

Great effort today, I think that this is going to be the most important aspect of this team going forward. We all agree the roster is a bit flawed and this is going to be a one game at a time season. If they learn to play together and play consistently hard for fourty minutes they have enough talent to compete most every night. Where that will lead record wise I have no idea. If this group gains confidence who knows what will happen. Let’s hope today was step one.

As usual, I agree with my mentor. Heady call by Steele to put Goodin on him as oppossed to Marshall.

Re: Depaul Game thread 12-29-2018
The solution is playing Welage a lot more. His defense is poor, but he is a net positive in almost every other area. It's unfair to say he doesn't rebound much, because his job is to be on the perimeter. He also shouldn't get a lot of credit for having so few turnovers, because he doesn't create for others. Castlin is a nice role player, but X can ill afford to have him on the court since he can't stretch the D or get to the hole consistently. In no scenario should Marshall or Goodin be taking more than 5 treys cumulatively.lionelchalmers0 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 29, 2018 3:47 pmI’m not sure what Xavier’s approach should be with this 3 point shooting at this point. If Naji and Q get open looks considering they’re two of our starting guards they kind of have to take them to keep the defense honest.
They’re just bad shooters plane and simple. This team has lots of decent slashers but no one to kick to and it makes defending them insanely easy.

Outside of shooting too many 3's (yes, he made two, which means he'll probably make 2 of his next 13) and widening the gulf of his turnover lead on the team because he plays too fast, Marshall had a very good game.

Well said. Thank God that the BE is down this year. No one looks formidable outside of Marquette.XavierBob wrote: ↑Sat Dec 29, 2018 5:09 pmGreat effort today, I think that this is going to be the most important aspect of this team going forward. Looks like my dawg AH and I were correct regarding more time for Welage especially since I’m not exactly sure what Caistlin does out there. Nice game for Naji as well as Jones at the end. I’m afraid we will struggle in the paint against big teams. Good road win. Woods was at the game
