Reality versus fantasy

Postby sonofamuskie » Wed Mar 28, 2018 10:24 pm

I have read numerous articles about Chris Mack leaving for Louisville. Some have stated that no matter what Xavier could not keep Mack because he realized he could not win here (National Championship). I don't claim to know if this was true or not, but it initially distressed me and caused me to resent Chris Mack. Then it occurred to me, they were right. Chris Mack like his predecessors could not win at Xavier. Chris Mack for all his outstanding qualities, he was flawed. Chris Mack did not believe (including a lack of ability to use his players correctly when necessary: example Big Sean against FSU and not being able to properly employ defense correctly).
That being said, let's move on. Either Travis or whoever they hire will take Xavier further. It is our manifest destiny! Xavier will win a championship and they will keep a coach as long as they want. It is coming. It is the Xavier way. Unlike others, we are always advancing. This is not fantasy, it is reality. Do you agree?

I disagree.

Mack could have won a National Championship at XU. It could have been this year, but alas, it was not.

It will be easier to win a National Championship at UofL. (easier to recruit, because of better facilities, program name and money, etc.)
He will make more than double at UofL each year.

That is pretty much it.
Period.

Can anyone tell what where Louisville's last 10 classes ranked on a national level. I always thought Pitino recruits were middling, but he was able to coach them up... Dan

Always top 10-15. Ironically, Pitino was one of the best coaches in bball. Top 3 imo. Why he needed calls and 6 figure checks to lure great players is beyond me.
