Briefly...the NCAA, and CBS and all the other TV sports networks are interested in ratings because they produce ad $$$$ from companies etc. Low ratings mean lower ad dollars. The NCAA makes millions and billions from sports and from the TV networks thus padding their NCAA paychecks and or bonuses etc They are only worried about dollars. While the athletes make little to nothing from the monies that flow in to TV companies and or the NCAA. That is why they seldom to never punish the blue bloods or money producing universities and thus ignore their cheating ways etc The old joke phrase "the NCAA caught (fill in the blank/a blue blood school) cheating so they/the NCAA punished (fill in the blank/small university) for the big school's cheating."

Why even comment about crap like that? You are, in a sense, acknowledging that you have read the manure they spout which is what they want.
Ignore them and, while you are at it, use a spell-checker. The word is spelled cretin.

I have no problem with either article, but I'm stunned you're surprised the head of CBS wants blue bloods, because much of his charge are the ratings. I completely agree with him when it comes to who would be the bigger draw, even though I don't root for them. It's why the top movies are offered to actors like Tom Hanks, Dicaprio, and Will Ferrell, and not David Hasselhoff and Carrot Top. Even though I think C.T would have done a great job as Oscar Schindler. I give you that.

I have no problem with either article, but I'm stunned you're surprised the head of CBS wants blue bloods, because much of his charge are the ratings. I completely agree with him when it comes to who would be the bigger draw, even though I don't root for them. It's why the top movies are offered to actors like Tom Hanks, Dicaprio, and Will Ferrell, and not David Hasselhoff and Carrot Top. Even though I think C.T would have done a great job as Oscar Schindler. I give you that.

We all intuitively know who TV prefers, however, an outright admission is detrimental to the Tournament.

Unlike movies, games are officiated and there is no immediate direct competition. We have long suspected (known) the big boys tend to get the benefit of the whistle. Planting a further seed in the Officials of what TV really wants undermines the credibility of contests and the Tournament.

Thursday evening we had a group watching the Loyola game. Two of us noted that it was important that Kansas State defeated Kentucky, not because of match-ups, but because of the Calipari/Kentucky whistle factor.

Awaiting, but not holding my breath, that the NCAA issue a statement of disappointment in CBS' chief comments. Further proof of a belief I have long held, TV changes everything it covers, and rarely for the better.

This I agree with. Not to mention it showed a glaring lack of tact. However, I don't buy the conspiracy theory about a bias towards the big boys. I know I'm in the minority on the latter on this topic.
