Crean, a failure at IU? No, no, no; Hurley, whose lifetime average at URI was 18-13? No, no, no. Not sure who X should get but now it seems like more no's than yesses.
If you take out Crean's first 3 seasons at IU, when he was dealing with severe sanctions; he went 138-69 at IU. He routinely got 5 star recruits and put 3 lottery picks in the NBA (Gordon, Zeller, Oladipo).

There's a good chance Mack will face similar sanctions at Louisville... will they be as patient as IU?
Crean had a decent record after the 1st 3 seasons but never made past the S16 even though he was a 1 seed and a 4 seed in a couple of seasons.
When the school has NC banners hanging, the bar is set higher for achieving tournament success.
I guess the good news for Mack is one of U of L's banners has to come down.

We better not hire Crean. I cant stand that guy. He ran off more players at IU than I can think of. Didn't he run off Jordan Crawford?

Crawford left because of the mess Sampson made. Crean ran off Remy Abell.

Thor - love the Buffalo note! That team was not intimidated at all playing against future pros this month.

What about Beilein's son? He's having big-time success right now at a lower level. If he's anything like his dad, you're going to get a clean, well-run program that doesn't rely on marquee recruits... great sets, maximizes talent... could be a nice outside-the-box idea!

I'd love to see us move beyond the usual suspects on this one, if Mack does indeed leave..

Mack needs to make a decision. We have been through this before and the top five teams we have had two of the last three years only one the first game of the tourney. Whether it is Steele, Miller or whoever life goes. Mack and decision Chris!

If that was the case, he wouldn't have left for Louisville on Friday. The deal was done w/L-ville in principle weeks ago. I'm not an insider, and even I know that. The time lag is simply to save face for CM, so it looks like his interest only started after the tourney. I don't blame him, and frankly respect him for doing it this way.

I wish him the best. Good coach, and seemingly a good man.
