Didn't they just join the Missouri Valley after years in the MCC - Horizon. Of couse, Butler had just joined the A10 after years in the MCC - Horizon & suddenly they were Big East.
How about they just replace DePaul with Loyola.

Re: Add Loyola of Chicago to BE ?
This might be the dumbest thread I have seen on this board in a while. Loyola has one good tournament run and all of a sudden they should be added to the Big East?
Why does the league need to expand anyway? It's perfect as is, a true round-robin schedule where everyone plays home and away. No need to dilute the product by adding a school that had one good year and hadn't been in the tournament since 1985 prior to this year.

Jokes aside, Loyola does reinforce what can happen with a true commitment from the school toward basketball. After years of bottom feeding in low level conferences, Loyola spent $$$ to rejuvenate their facilities --which still are nothing to brag about- and join a better conference. Sprinkle in a good coach and the program can be a shining star.

Maybe a little "peer pressure" will help spur DePaul to step it up.joetitan wrote: ↑Fri Mar 23, 2018 11:35 amJokes aside, Loyola does reinforce what can happen with a true commitment from the school toward basketball. Don't think the BE needs to expand.
The existing schools just need to do better in the tournament.

While DePaul now receives little publicity in the Chicagoland media, there have been some recent articles turning up the heat on DePaul's AD. She has had three lousy coach hires (Jerry Wainwright, Oliver Purnell and Dave Leitao). There has also been an Ad in one of the Chicago dailies calling for her ouster.mumuskie87 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 23, 2018 3:42 pmMaybe a little "peer pressure" will help spur DePaul to step it up.joetitan wrote: ↑Fri Mar 23, 2018 11:35 amJokes aside, Loyola does reinforce what can happen with a true commitment from the school toward basketball. Wonderful person, sincere ... however, frankly she does not want the Men's team to succeed and overshadow the Women's Team's accomplishments. Either that, or she is the most inept AD in the country. She is too smart for that title, so I submit the former explanation.
We will likely be cutting back on our season ticket purchase next year to Big East games only. Shiny new stadium; tarnished, ineffective leader.
