Half of Xavier's games already played this season are a coin flip to a degree. Why?? Because Xavier has won around half of its games this year by 10 points or less and many by 5 points or less.....so any odds/or point spreads for X against good teams is going to be 5 points or less. Xavier is a very good team , but it has just barely won half its games by 10 points and under and that is close. The number one team Villanova crushed X.

UC is obviously our biggest rival. Not sure we have a second biggest rival but it's definetly not Nova. A Hammer doesn't have a rivalry with a nail. I doubt many Nova fans circled the calander for our games when the schedule came out. Due to proximity and the quality of their program I see Butler becoming our number two rival.

I would UC is still the biggest rival and heated up even more with Cronin-Mack era.

Nova - not so much given that X is 5-25 overall against Nova.

I went up to the game in 2016.
I took my dad with me and it was the last game we went to before he passed away that July.
Great day - X got the W - JP's dunk.
And the contingent of X fan's chanting "Let's Go X" in the final minutes as the W was in hand.
And I still have a recording of that on my phone.
I hope that there can be another chant tonight.

I know Jay Wright is being touted as one of the favorites for the NCAA Nat’l COY, but I think Lavelle Jordan has done the best job in the BE. Personnel-wise, they are tied with Creighton as the team with the 5th best talent in the league. Butler should be favored at home b/c of how well they play there, but look at the matchups:

PG: Baldwin is a little better than Goodin, but Scruggs, especially lately, is better than the serviceable Aaron Thompson. X’s pgs are more physically imposing, and while Baldwin is the best scorer in the bunch and a hawk on defense, Goodin is clearly the better game manager. Edge: Tie.

2 guard: Jorgenson is a nice player, and defends and shoots a little better than JP, but overall, JP is the better player (rebounding, assists, help defense, and clutch execution). Badley is a sharp shooting, nicely developing sub (a la taller Redford), but JP’s sub is a collection of different guys (Marshall, Scruggs, etc..) Edge X

Small forward: Though Tre shoots better statistically, Martin is a hair better all around, especially with his ability to create on the dribble. He’s also clearly a better defender, though he ain’t no K Gates or Marshall. Marshall is clearly better than Mcdermott (though Mc is a 3 point shooting specialist), so the small forward advantage goes to X.

Post players: Wideman is a little more athletic Gaston, with similar range, and Fowler is a tall big w a decent outside jumper. X’s collection of Gates, Jones, O’Mara, & Kantner gives X a huuuuuge advantage. This group should score at least 40 points tonight cumulatively, and will be why X wins the game. Take the money line!

The only thing that will keep this close is X’s Swiss cheese defense. Despite that, X wins 79-76. Note: AH has lost 3 of last 5 wagers on X, though was winning at a 70% clip before that. Hopefully, CM listened to my podcast on D & V this week. Some guy names Chris Nack from No KY signed in, so I suspect he has his game plan in place for tonight.
