Trap game? Maybe. But this was just awful. In so much we get on Scruggs for how poorly he plays, and rightly so, the lack of senior leadership today outside of Kanter was unbelievable.

Kanter has been a beast inside but X will need to make a couple 3's to have a chance
And Tre and Kaiser have been sleepwalking today
Hell, Q has been their best 3 point option today

if X shot their FTs at their percentage and PU shot at their percentage this game might have been different. Their coach's game plan worked letting Kanter be the high scorer and shutting down Tre and JP. Hard to beat threes when you only can shoot 2s and today they had 12 more points from the three. Have to hand it to the Friars today because they did not play like I have seen them play this year.

You couldn't be more wrong. This team will lose by at least 20 to Nova and all of the top five talk will go away for the rest of the season. They haven't played well for weeks and it's finally showing up on the scoreboard!!

Providence is good. But Trevon ,JP and Kaiser were non factors .Our inside guys dominated fortunately but we couldn't get stops .

Great outcome for the league: Providence at this point is now on the right side of the bubble, and X suffers a "good loss," which in this league is pretty much anybody but Depaul on the road. The loss is squarely on the shoulders of CM. Force feeding Scruggs mintues again cost them dearly in the 1st half, and waiting until a minute to go and down by 8 before employing pressure is like playing prevent down by 3 touchdowns, then blitzing at the two-minute warning. Those were two of many brain cramps. He has been very good for the most part, and everyone has off nights. Cooley definitely shined.

Tre is has regressed this year, and is still a very good offensive option, when he has a step in, open shot, When he puts it on the floor, it often results in a "horse" shot, travel, or turnover. Scruggs..... I hope he has a very productive offseason. Again, not a bad loss at all. It just means the Nova game will be a top 10, not 5 matchup.

The only good outcome from the game is the line was X-7 at the half, not 5, so AH didn't touch it.

Yeah I'm not sure why more teams don't guard xavier this way. All our shooters are catch and shoot only. Their defenders just stayed tight on them and only let them catch the ball way behind the line. So no spot up 3s were ever available and thus Tre/gates/JP were essentially non factors on offense.
