Actually, despite what this thread turned into, my intent in starting it was not really to have yet another diatribe against Dayton (think we have had a fill of that) but rather to note Richmond's rushing of the court. I remember some of our experiences down there in times past and it was just a little deja vu about their fans. And it was Dayton's own paper that had the remark about the dissection and I am sorry, I just could not resist. Sorry if I came across otherwise.

It's just what somebody thinks ...

And also from the Dayton Daily News article on the game comes a great line:
Quote:
Lightly regarded Richmond sliced apart the 16th-ranked Flyers like a biology class dissecting frogs. UD fell behind by 25 points and dropped an 80-63 decision for its third straight loss.

And with that I have 2 thoughts: 1st - Are you all aware that Doug Harris actually played for UD during the Jim Paxson era at UD? That's right, he played backup PG.
2nd - Either he's trying desperately to appear professional despite his obvious affiliation with UD, or he's just an idiot. He of all people should realize that CW and CL are critical to UD's success. Make your own judgement.

If we lost CJ, Stan and Duncan I would bet that we would probably lose 3 games in a row to good or average teams. Don't give me that crap that if you were good you would find ways to win without three of your better players. UC was awesome that year when KMart went down. UD is banged up and if they were healthy they would have gave us(X) a much better game.

You just took two starters and one bench player off of Xavier's team. Dayton lost one starter and one bench player.

Since Brian Roberts has been ill he scored 20 or more in 4 of the 5 games, against Xavier he just got shut out. Don't count him. UCONN is 2-0 since benching 2 starters for poor conduct and they keep winning, St. Joe has been without starter Tasheed Carr for 4 games and they are 3-1 without complaining, Xavier lost 2 senior starters 2 years ago and went 9-3 without them and made the NCAA tourney. Players on all teams throughout the country get injured or suspended, some teams just move on, other teams quit and complain. If Xavier lost say Derrick Brown and Josh Duncan they would not get run out of any gym by Richmond.

Well I see what you guys are saying. Xavier is sooo deep and Dayton has 3 games that run that team. Bottom line is I guess you better recruit more than 3 decent players.

First of all, Xavier doesn;t have any player named "Lavendar". Second of all, a good team doesn't lose 3 conference games in a row, no matter what their injury situation. Dayton is all-hype as usual, and Wright fits in that category too. Finally, a good team doesn't lose on the same opponents home court annually for the last 27 years.
wow, don't even know where to begin with this foolishness. a good team doesn't lose three games in a row, no matter what the injuries? who said ud is a good team with little and wright gone? i admit right now they suck, but i watched this team win at miami something x couldn't do. i saw them dismantle pitt and win at louisville.
when healthy ud was pretty good. as far as ud losing to x the last 27 yrs, what in the he!! does that have to do with the current team? pretty sure this exact team wasn't the same team that lost 27 yrs. in a row.[/quote]
Baloney, it is what it is. UD is a much better team with Wright and Little but to bring up wins over Pitt and Louisville contradicts some of your previous points. Louisville was out Padgett and Palacios and Pitt just lost Cook and someone else. BTW, check out the stock on Pitt and Louisville. Your win over Miami was something we couldn't accomplish but I guess we made it up by beating UMass on the road. How did you do against UMass. I'm also confident we'll take care of business against Richmond-at least not lose by 20. As for X winning the last 27 years, it's no big deal. It's probably more meaningful to UD that UD has not won a tourney game in 18 years. I don't begrudge Dayton, they are just not a real rival for X except in UD's minds. In their best years over the last 18, UD made the tourney maybe 3 times that X didn't. X made it about 15 times more than UD. During that timeframe, X has an Elite 8, two sweet 16s, and unfortunately too many 1 or 2 and done. The only year UD won the A-10 tourney, X not only went further but were seeded better. One other year when X finished 4 in the A-10 and UD finished 1st in regular season, X won the A-10 tourney on UDs floor, had a higher seed then UD, and went to the Elite 8. Just pointing out facts. I always say that UD is a non-event until they win an NCAA game and that remains the case. Sorry to let facts get in the way.

yeah i can tell ud is not a rival to x by this message board. you guys never discuss ud on here, right? i'd say at least twice a week(if not more) there are threads started here by x fans about ud. in fact, i would bet there is no other team(besides x of course) talked about
more on musketeer madness than ud. perhaps uc, but that's it.
i get sick of the silly "ud isn't a rival" crap posted on here yet there are countless posts about ud started on here by you guys.
i bet this board couldn't go 48 hours without one of you goombas posting about my flyers.

Oh Phony Baloney...go make yourself a meatball sandwich and flip on season 1 of the Sapranos. Yeah, MM talks about ud; 1) the week they play each other and 2) when idiots like you come around.

On a positive note--you guys are prime for some strong post season (NIT) play!!

Remember, sticks and stones make break our bones, but your're no Italian Stallion......

the week they play and when nice guys like me come around? you are either blind or new to this board, or just plain lying when you say that. there is constant stuff posted about ud year round on this board, not just the week of the game.
