Butler escapes in OT
Beat DePaul there by one point. Baldwin had 18 again. That kid is a star. DePaul had so many ways to win that game. FTs did them in and TOs

The Butler/DePaul game was ugly.I think DePaul went about 8 minutes without a field goal late in the second half. They had numerous chances to win that.Baldwin is a stud .Probably leader for FOY.Even more frustrated that we lost to CU here.

Yea....Coach Wojo has quietly got them in the mix for a tournament bid.oreobob wrote:Creighton loses at home to a good Q team.
Interesting - KenPom projects 4 mores losses for X this year -
Nova, at CU, at UC and at MU.
Too bad for DePaul. Would love to have seen them knock off Butler.

CU will definitely miss Watson and X had their opportunity with him out the game but didn't capitalize.bluegrass wrote:.Even more frustrated that we lost to CU here.

Re: Butler escapes in OT
Three factors for DePaul's loss today:
1) Poor FT % - 14/24 - 58.3%. Eli Cain missed a FT with 2.7 in regulation, which could have won the game.
2) Unforced turnovers, especially when the Blue Demons held the lead in the first half. DPU had 12 TO's, Butler 6.
3) John Gaffney - always thought he was a pretty good ref. He was atrocious today. Dave Leitao is a coach who is relatively respectful toward the the refs. Today, after yet another blown call by Gaffney call near the end of regulation, Coach Leitao marched down toward the far end of the bench and ripped off his jacket. In overtime, after another pathetic Gaffney call, he ripped off his tie. He then barked to the DePaul AD who was sitting nearby about Gaffney's whistle. We sit very close, and I can attest that both of Gaffney's partners (Paul Szechuan and Tony Chiazzo) basically threw him under the bus when Leitao complained to them about several of Gaffney's calls. In two years I have never observed Leitao as worked up about an official. He had every right to be.
