Re: Creighton Game thread 01/16/2017
Got it, Anti! Totally agree. IMHO, this team just does not have confidence in itself or it's coaches. At times they look the part and play to their abilities. But the turnovers have become a consistent problem, and there has been no improvement. The free throws are a problem, (especially down the stretch), but I think that is a symptom of the lack of confidence. If they were playing better and pulling these games out, I think the FT shooting would be much better. I just can't understand why they don't believe in themselves, each other, and their coaches. Maybe I have rose colored glasses, but when I watch them play, they look like the better players to me. But they play like they are not the better team. They seem to be playing like they are hoping to win, not like they know they will win. This is a frustrating team to watch right now.

Too bad about Mo Watson
I was hoping they would be a FF.

A measure of my interest in X basketball....flew to Indy to see Butler game (from Upstate NY), rented car and drove to Cincy to attend Creighton game on Monday. All I can say is, "man do we need a leader!" Walking out of Cintas Monday, I turned to my buddy and said, " a CYO coach would be pissed at that performance...too many TO's and all those missed FT's! He'd have the team running suicides all day." Granted, I am sure coach Mack handles his players as men, but they do need a boot in the butt. Frankly, it is becoming embarrassing. Competent teams do the basics well, particularly, taking care of the basketball!

Chris has always given his players a long leash and this has hurt him with Tre and JP. Can't be a players coach and suddenly turn into a hard a**. It didn't work with Tu or Lyons either.

The reference is to what the CYO coach would do...what is your contribution? I'll betcha our comments on this board don't help the FT shooting either...LOLfinalfourorbust wrote:I'm sure running suicides would help the FT shooting.PT71 wrote:A measure of my interest in X basketball....flew to Indy to see Butler game (from Upstate NY), rented car and drove to Cincy to attend Creighton game on Monday. Why isn't McDermott catching any ***** for letting Watson go back in when he was obviously hobbled. Feel like the media should be roasting him over that...

I'm sure if their trainers thought he had a serious injury he would not have gone back in the game. Do you have a problem with Ed continuing to play?webxu wrote:Why isn't McDermott catching any ***** for letting Watson go back in when he was obviously hobbled. If Ed is seriously hurting he should not be on the court. Watson couldn't even run and was walking with a noticeable limp but was allowed to re-enter the game. Its possible it could have been torn already or the re-entry to the game caused it we will never know, but a coach you need to put the best interest of the players you are responsible for. Having played for many years, as a player I would certainly want to be out there so its up to the coach to intervene.
