Happy belated birthday wishes Coach and my son Christopher.

Bernard deserves a way to go as his 2 threes came at points when X needed them the most. His D was not too bad either.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Huge road win – HUGE! G-Town playing inspired ball and Tre having arguably his worst game yet. To find a way to win this one was just plain spectacular. Byron selected Ed as MVP although I could make a strong case for JP. His “3” on a busted play late in game as shot clock wound down was just heartless! Go back and watch about a minute later when X was nursing a 4 pt lead with about 4:10 to play. Off an X miss, JP swoops aggressively down the right side of the lane to sneak in to contest for the rebound. G-Town player thought easy RB then was flustered and fouled JP. So out of the under 4 min TV break, instead of GT having the ball, JP is sinking two FT’s to push lead back to 6. IMHO, that was one of the plays of the game that go largely unnoticed… Bernard, as mentioned by others, also steady and vital. Big Sean with a strong game. And yes, Ed played light’s out. I want to also give props to Mack and his staff. The subtle adjustment on “D” to slightly back off in our “man” sets yet aggressively fill the gaps was key. Cut down backdoor cuts tremendously in 2nd half and reduced our fouls. This team is growing up. JP with the courage of a cat burglar, and a resilient team effort to overcome a rare off night by Tre.
Take this “W” and run..! Making this a very HAPPY NEW YEAR to all in Muskieland… ;-)

His KenPom offensive rating was an off the chart 203 today.
He was 2 for 3 from 3, 1-1 from 2 and 1-1 from the line, had 3 boards, 3 assists, 2 steals and 0 TO's.
He has really improved his 3 point shooting from last year - 11 for 52 last year and 16 for 42 so far this year.
Last 5 games - 37 points, 8-19 from 3, 18 boards, 13 assists with only 3 TO's. And 8 steals.
He is playing very solid basketball for X.

Any win on the road is big.Weathered a poor game by our leading scorer.Bench gave us some good minutes again. We should move up a little in the polls. Creighton v Nova now.Wild first half there

Agree that was a huge play by JP. Great hustle play...it was Peak who picked that foul - his 4th - on that play.
The back cuts hurt X in the 1H and agree that the coaching staff made the necessary adjustments in the 2H.

That was good to see. He is still the best low post scorer, and had a great pass at a critical time in the game. He is still fumbling the ball too much, and isn't taking it up strong as consistently as he did last year. However, he held his own defensively against a solid front court. X will need to to keep improving, because Jones clearly isn't ready to contribute consistent minutes this year.

His 3 pt. shooting % is the best on the team this year, though he doesn't obviously shoot as many as the others. IF Tre & JP would show better shot selection on their treys, they would be in the 40s.

Myles is also a better shooter (including f.t.s), but Bernard is clearly a better rebounder and defender. The best thing about getting Myles back will be the ability to start Sumner off at the wing.

Ball game
Sumner showed why he'll be a 1st round pick, despite still struggling as a decision maker, and being a below par shooter. He is lightning quick in the open court, and showed an array of moves no pg at X ever had. Best game of his career.

I thought we played well, especially because we didn't shoot well and still put up 80. Sumner played his best game of the year as did Omara. Bluiett really struggled, so it was almost nice to win when our best scorer was bad.

Huge win, especially because after we play St. Johns we have 3 straight games against top 15-20 teams (depending where Butler falls).

Nice win.
Any BE road win is big.

I loathe this cliche, probably because I thought it smacked of arrogance every time Cronin said it when they were in the BE. Today was a nice solid win, but GTown is a NIT team. Winning at places like Depaul & John's is a prerequisite for any team who wants a high seed.
