Scruggs to Prep school
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Kind of a salty article by an Indiana basketball purist. I dont care where he goes to school as long as he takes and passes real classes and comes to X.muskieman wrote:http://www.indystar.com/story/sports/co ... /89911066/

Wonder what this does to Xavier's chances if anything? Also wonder if this prep school has any college connections. He sure won't be Mr. Basketball in Indiana

According to the coaches Doyel talked to (per Doyel) this move won't chsnge the recruiting outcome much. I fear he is headed to U Conn. They got in late but seem to be holding strong. Without their entry I think Scruggs would have committed to X by now.harryfe wrote:Wonder what this does to Xavier's chances if anything? Also wonder if this prep school has any college connections. Re: Scruggs to Prep school
Very interesting article which includes this excerpt;
Why should I get my shorts in a knot over a seemingly apparent one & done. Enlighten me, please.As for the kid himself — this is about the kid, I hope — Paul Scruggs has two goals: be academically eligible for Division I next fall, and be physically ready for major college basketball in one year and the NBA shortly thereafter. Scruggs and his parents flew to California this weekend to check out Prolific Prep.

I doubt that UConn is still in the picture for Scruggs, if they ever were. They are loaded at PG, especially given their latest commitment. Here's the link: http://www.espn.com/college-sports/recr ... ut-huskies.olsingledigit wrote:According to the coaches Doyel talked to (per Doyel) this move won't chsnge the recruiting outcome much. Xavier always goes to the NCAA tournament, and almost always makes some noise while there. Projecting anything less than that this season feels like folly--Eamonn Brennan (ESPN Summer Shootaround, 2012)

Re: Scruggs to Prep school
I have heard that UConn is out of the picture now that they got a Top 40 PG. Frankly I'm not sure they were ever truly in the picture. Also its not exactly going out on a limb by Doyel, saying this wont effect recruiting, when hes not really being recruited by any west coast schools (as far as I know.) In the end I still feel confident he comes to X.olsingledigit wrote:According to the coaches Doyel talked to (per Doyel) this move won't chsnge the recruiting outcome much. Re: Scruggs to Prep school
I just googled Justin-Siena high school and find this very interesting. Gary Trent Sr. has his son enrolled along with Jackson ( 5 star) and now Scruggs registered. Sounds like another high school basketball factory. Tuition is $18,900 and the registration fee is $450 and I wonder who is paying that. The article states that Scruggs wants to improve his academics and that is also interesting. I guess we will know in about two months (early signing period) if XU is THE ONE. Go Xavier!

Avoid this one like the plague. A Prep school that sends its players to a High School?? Isn't it the other way around or am I missing something?

It's a super AAU team and I'd sure like to know who is paying the tab for the high school plus the meals, rooming and sundries that go with the package. No denying it's a for profit organization. Could it be that the operators get a percentage of the player's salary when he turns pro?
