seems like you are the only one equating X to UC. I think you are reading into our posts. You see some of us think he is owed his right under the constitution which is "innocent UNTIL proven guilty" and not "guilty even if proven innocent" as your kneej.erk comments have made. The Duke Lacrosse players should have been kicked out of school by your count, OH that's right they were and then they were found not guilty and Duke paid out big bucks for jumping in before they knew the story. Normally, you seem reasonable but on this rethink and tell us all the reason, with proof, of why he should be judged so harshly.brockman231 wrote:Seems most on here are ok with our program turning into UC of the 90's as long as we win.

Re: Myles Davis faces new criminal charge
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Re: Myles Davis faces new criminal charge
Seems most here believe in not judging others, especially with very little information, and before those tasked with getting to the truth can make a decision. Nothing to do basketball. Once the facts are out, the legal process is complete, and Xavier's internal process is complete, I am fine with whatever they decide.brockman231 wrote:Seems most on here are ok with our program turning into UC of the 90's as long as we win.
Seems you are all about judging others including those here who believe in due process. And your judgement does seem to be based on Davis being a basketball player. You want punishment with no due process. Doesn't sound like Catholic beliefs, democratic beliefs, humane beliefs, or ethical beliefs. Must be nice to be able to judge without the need of any of that.

Due process doesn't apply to college athletes as far as punishment from the team or university. I don't know if Myles deserves any punishment or not, but I think Chris and the administration have enough info to make a decision with regards to this. I just saw where 2 Western Michigan athletes were suspended the day after the offense.commish118 wrote:Seems most here believe in not judging others, especially with very little information, and before those tasked with getting to the truth can make a decision. Two Western Michigan University football players were arrested late Friday, Aug. 26, following an off-campus armed robbery.

So now you know how much Chris and others know, Harry? Maybe because they know they have not gone off the deep end like you and Brockman what them to do. Maybe they learned something from the other universities that act without thinking and knowing.harryfe wrote:Due process doesn't apply to college athletes as far as punishment from the team or university. Far, far from it. Possibly some of us have experienced circumstances which urge caution before judgment.brockman231 wrote:Seems most on here are ok with our program turning into UC of the 90's as long as we win.
Not only have you decided the punishment for Myles without all the facts in, but now you carry it further to ascribe a position to a number of us which could not be further from the truth. In fact, when the Dez Wells decision came down, some of us had information which caused us to support the somewhat unpopular and controversial decision to dismiss Dez and respectfully set forth those arguments on this Board.

I wouldn't agree with that observation at all. I think that most are just saying to withhold judgement unti all the facts come out and the situation sorts itself out. It's easy to speculate on what may or may not have happened, and it's easy to pass judgement based on ones own experiences or what one has heard.....but it's usually not very accurate and certainly isn't fair to the parties involved.

I have to say that I agree with the idea that in such circumstances, what the legal system determines, what the university determines, and what the coaches and athletic department determine, though obviously interrelated and interdependent most of the time, are ultimately very different processes that can have distinct outcomes. And we should not (always) require any of those institutions to wait on the others to come to a fair decision...
To put it another way, just because a student athlete has committed a crime according to the legal system does not mean he/she should necessarily be suspended/dismissed from a team or the university. And just because a student athlete has not committed a crime according to the legal system does not mean he/she has a right to wear an X uniform. We can collectively negotiate are own values and standards as a private institution/community...
I trust that Mack, the AD and the Administration will come to a fair decision based on the information they have regardless of what the courts decide.
