could be and then maybe not!thecoach wrote:so is this another 1 year wonder?
If he truns out to be good enough for 1 year wonder then X will benefit in that year. Semaj was not a 1 year wonder so making this guy one is probably a hopeful thought.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Re: Aleksander Vezenkov signs with XU
Thx to those who posted links to this kid's videos. From watching, seems like tons of upside but I agree, he is far from NBA ready. Thin, not a terrific handle yet, and needs upper body strength. However, damn impressive for a 17 yr old. Love his quick release on jumpers, unusual for a 6-8 player who can also score with his back to the basket down in post. I would say he stays at least 2 yrs.
That said, sounds like he is FAR from a sure thing and really hasn't decided his basketball plans for the Fall. Looks like he might opt for a European league of some sort.
This recruit has me excited, and really hoping he winds up on Victory Parkway sometime in September....

If someone commits what 3 and a half or four months down the road I think he has made up his mind don't ya think? It isn't like a guy that commits in 2012 and is a 2014 prospect. Right?

Great point Kriegers.. But I read that one link where it seemed Mr. Vezenkov went out of his way to state that he only signed due to May 20 th deadline so he would have an NCAA option. Maybe I am reading too much into that or snake-bit by a few other high profile recruits who left us at the alter after a verbal. I don't know any more than any other poster obviously and really excited to see him join the incoming class.

It's also a case of a kid moving halfway around the world (not literally - that would be the Gobi Desert) into a strange environment and knowing few people. That's a big step for a kid even though he would make great new friends.

Hahaha.. Nickgyp with the funniest post of the day... I appreciated that throwback reference..
This sounds very promising - mostly because it would seem he provides some skills that the roster didn't already have... Looking like a nice mix potentially the next year or so! I hope it all works out!

Re: Aleksander Vezenkov signs with XU
My co-worker is from Bulgaria. She doesn't know squat about basketball, but I told her Xavier just signed a guy from her home country. So she says, I know a guy that was really good at basketball who lives in Cincy that is also from Bulgaria - I'll ask him about this guy. So she gets back with me and said "my friend said the Xavier recruit has been planning to sign with Xavier for months, this is old news"
So this morning I asked her to figure out if he is really coming or if he is still pondering the situation, as the Greek article implies.
I have no idea if this guy really knows Vezenkov, but I know the Bulgarian community isn't that large in Cincinnati... so perhaps he does know the player.
