Money and talent
When we look at the make up of our last two teams it is obvious that the talent level is a lot lower than the teams we had before Steele. Steele was obviously not a top 100 B-Ball coach. I know it takes time to recover from that mistake . But we have turned into a fringe NCAA... NIT program. Is it the coaching? I don't believe so. Five of the top ten teams in the country are From the SEC. The SEC has decided that basketball is important and is throwing millions into the Basketball N.I.L. funds .If you look at the top ten teams and coaches Miller easily belongs in that group. We haven't done anything the last two years in the High School recruiting process. Heck Chris Mack had a much better talent level than Miller has had. Without a serious change it's hard to imagine Xavier being any better next year. Next year on paper our front court will be the worst in the Big East. It is painful to watch what is happening to our team. I know injuries have had a huge impact on the last two years. But without a serious boost from N.I.L. funds I don't see things changing. I think counting on overseas players is not realistic. Maybe we need better recruiters ... More money lol. Raise your hand if any of us thought the talent level would drop when we hired Miller. No one on this board is more of a Miller fan than me but something needs to change in our recruiting efforts going forward.
