Great defense will generally keep a team competitive. They do need to also perform on offense if they want to consistently advance. I'm not overly concerned with number of possessions but efficiency of possessions. If the number of possessions are reduced, that would apply to both teams so you simply need to be more productive than the other team with those possessions. That should be reasonably easy when you are a dominant defensive team.
Defensive dominance has to apply to various offensive styles and players. When it doesn't translate, you have a problem. Similarly, if your own offense is bad, playing great D will mostly just avoid blowouts. Balance is preferred. X could use more balance and depth. More defensive strategies would also be nice.
Can we start the list of coaches that should be fired?
