If you could rank/draft players in order of how much you want them to stay…

Postby lionelchalmers0 » Thu Mar 31, 2022 11:06 pm

Lots of speculation, but just for fun if you could rank the players you want to stay/don’t want to transfer what would it look like? For me….

1. Nunge- obvious.

2. Odom- pure point guard and legit future floor general if used correctly.

3. Jones- probably better overall player than Odom right now but does disappear in the big East a bit and much easier to replace a tweener guard/forward like him with another transfer.

4. Kunkel- showed what he can do when allowed to handle the ball and not be a spot up shooter only.

5. Elijah tucker- have him higher than most would. Have heard he can fill a lot of deficits we have and should be ready to go next year (but will be gone if Jonas is).

6. Freemantle- would love to see him stay, while defense is bad he does have that gritty, least favorite player to your opponents thing JP had which is nice and is still a great rebounder and offensive 4. Plus coming in healthy could be a huge difference.

7. Edwards- everyone loves him, does seem like a nice stretch four but to me once he got a few more minutes didn’t seem to shine as much.

8. Tandy- probably gone but could Miller revitalize him?

i agree mostly on this list.

i would LOVE to see if Tandy could at all possible, be 100% healthy, and maybe "get it figured out" under Miller. I don't know

not sure on Tucker as i have no idea on what his game is supposed to be like.

i like Edwards and if Freemantle hits the portal (as is expected), why would he NOT stay?

is Stanley done or does he have another year? if he does, he may go elsewhere if he's able (not sure on the rules for the dudes who TRANSFERRED to X, if they can transfer again with no penalty)

Players who TRANSFERRED to X were:

Kunkel
Nunge
Hunter
Stanley

did i miss any?

not sure.

these next few days will be interesting.

My number one choice to stay is Jonas Hayes. He’s not a player but if he leaves a could see a good portion of the team following him if he gets a head coaching job at a decent school.

agree PK...! But to rank:
1) Jones. more years left and seems about to become a premiere talent.
2) Nunge. (but just barely beats out my #3) Jack is incredible but may explore The League options. Love the dude. Thank you Jack!!
3) Odom. Dwon needs to work on his shot and his Man-D. He was weaker on physically stopping penetration than he should have been. Sean would fix that.
4) Edwards. Lot's of untapped potential. But I agree he was more raw than we may have hoped for. Still, you could see flashes and tons of remaining eligibility.
4A) Freemantle. A Healthy off-season and have Sean in his ear, why would you leave. But I guess you "insiders" feel he has one foot out the door.
6) Tucker. We just don't know. Maybe he should be higher, but nothing to base it on. As many feel, he might follow coach Hayes so that is crucial.
7) Dieonte. Why not. Has a few years left and you can't teach his size and athleticism. Great kid. Likely gone
Tied for 9th.) Kyky & Ben. Love both young men. I do not feel Kyky has the handle to excel at guard at this level. Ben a terrific power forward at Mid-Major level, not the BE sadly.
Will be interesting to see the chips fall.

watching last night's game again I paid special attention to Zach when the game was over and his reaction to winning a championship compared to everyone else on the team was stark, to say the least. He was hugged by some other players and did not reciprocate(Hands down by his side, showed no emotion when the horn sounded and walked back to the bench not even hugging any coaches but taking a championship shirt. I watch with another person and we agreed he acted as if someone had died, with no joy or emotion whatsoever. I have seen him hoot and holler in other victories but last night nothing, a walking zombie. Didn't act like a team player for some reason.

As for players staying the important thing is that they want to stay and have no options.

In order of importance here are the people I want to stay Jonas Hayes...I know he deserves a head coaching job but you ask who I want to stay. I think if X works it out it would be tremendous. So many positives and no negatives at this point. He can take the Georgia state but Gst will have to overcome the nepotism laws and if they can't it would mean his brother would be fired...we saw how that worked about 13-14 years ago. AND please don't lose him to BUTLER

Players I want to stay well Jack's brother is a walk-on next year, it would appear he would stay.

Jones, showed that he improved (unlike some people that think X players had not improved) as his stats were better than his first year. I think Losing Paul forced Jones into a point guard situation at times and made him more aggressive. We will see how Miller feels about him but I am sure he likes what he saw in NYC.

Odom. Again the loss of Paul made him shine and show he can score the ball and it doesn't have to be from the arc to be impactful. Also, he showed while not turning it over too much can attack the basket and dish

Zach Freemantle If Sean can get his mind straight he still has value as he is a tough guy when focused and can score. His antics are a distraction but if he becomes more coachable and accepts a role that will change if he stays

Adam is close to family and a good guy to have on the team, but will he want to show more?

Ben Stanley...can Miller make him into a Cage-like player if so worth a try

Hunter, left Indiana when there was a coaching change so will we see a repeat

As for the recruits Kraft seems to be an X man. Claude and Ward have always been players looking for better places so we will see if Miller can keep them or replace them with better Claude and Kraft were Jackson recruits so they might be easier to keep than Ward.

Miles... This kid I love everything about him but he reminds me of Baby Huey(some will know what I am talking about) for some reason. When he was in he was serviceable but Miller can take raw talent and make them memorable.

Tucker...I don't know much about him but all I have heard is he could be a solid player under Miller. I would like him to stay just to see if he can be a player.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Shortening Free’s mins were key especially on defense end. If he and his dad think he can go somewhere better and the to NBA go for it, but no one will baby him more than Steele.

Note that with the Butler firing of their head coach Simas Lukosius has put his name in the portal. Based on how he torched X (27 points) and how he can shoot the threes I hope X takes a look, not necessarily get him. I wonder if he has any favorites yet?
