Recruiting for UL

Postby olsingledigit » Tue Mar 27, 2018 8:28 pm

There were rumors that “our” coaches were recruiting for UL before leaving X. Well today Aarmon Franklin of Cathedral HS in Indy (a junior) (my HS btw) heavily recruited by X miraculously received an offer from Louisville. Not happy with Mack or the assistants for their actions. Unethical at least.

Boudreaux has re-opened his recruitment so he is likely gone. Two of next year’s recruits are unhappy about their situations. Thinks are diving fast. Hope we get the right coach soon. Might be a tough season next year.

Agreed its underhanded is they were technically still XU employees. I am more worried about getting best coach as opposed to quick hire.

Steele was recruiting from X and there are a ton of other schools in the hunt. At end of day. louisville still have to fight the perception of violations and i'm sure coaches from all schools will remind recruits of that. I fully expect him to make offers. We sill see.

X just has to get a coach quickly. i realize Christopher called the recruits today but a coach can better tell them how that player fits the scheme. I heard Curtis said if Steele is coach, he would honor his commitment. I know we don't want a coach just because of recruits but based on pedigree Steele seems to fit the exact same mold as Miller and Mack. Been in system to last coach for a long time and in the system. Unless there is a story that we are unaware, he seems like the right guy.

Not a big deal. Louisville can offer every high school player in ESPN's top 25, but so can every your D1 school in America. Just because they offer doesn't make it some kind of major accomplishment, it's a phone call, that's all... Dan

I didn’t say it was an accomplishment, I just don’t like the way they recruited him heavilybwithout an offer and then make an offer from the Ville within a couple of hours.

I agree on the unethical part. But it's part of the U of L DNA.
The new guys are fitting right in.

Agree 87, especially since this Louisville thing has been going on for over a month. Mack’s true colors could be showing. Wrap up Steele and secure the recruits. The Dartmouth transfer hurts because we have no bigs next year. Too bad Mack didn’t push Ridder out the door he would have added depth.

What's unethical???... They got the job and offered a recruit. Again all they did was make a phone call. So should MC refuse to contact any recruit they were pursuing while at X???... I got news for you, probably 99% of recruits choose a school because of the coaching staff. Sure they talk about the atmosphere on campus, the educational opportunity but they still choose the coaches not the school. The other 1% are life long fans of a particular school and dreamed of playing there their entire life... Sucks, sure, unethical???... No... Dan

As head coach, I’m sure Mack is not not aware of what his assistants are doing, LOL.
