Granted we are not even through November but props to Malcolm Bernard. He is unselfish, plays GREAT defense and does the blue collar work. Averaging 30 minutes a game, only taking 5 shots, hitting 50% from the field, 38% from 3, 4rpg, 1.2 assists, 1.2 steels. He typically is matched up on the top scorer and his length from the guard position is a big advantage.
While Macura, Blueitt, and Sumner get most of the attention, this fifth year senior transfer just plays his role and love watching his unselfish play. I don't think we are 5-0 without him.

Re: Malcolm Bernard
I agree he has turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Byron said on the post game show after the Clemson game (I think) that Malcolm had approached Byron and asked him advice on how he could better fit in. He felt he wasn't sure what his role was to be. Bryon told him to go to the coaches and ask them, but he also told Malcolm to be more aggressive. I think he has taken Byron's advice. He played great D last night against NI too. Really a great pick up by Mack and the coaches.

Re: Malcolm Bernard
Bernard has filled Remy's production quite nicely.
With his length, he has been a better rebounder than Remy.
And his 3 point shooting has been a pleasant surprise.
HIs 38.5% pct from 3 leads the team (excluding Little Stain's 1-1).
I'm sure it has been an adjustment going from being the alpha dog at FAMU to supporting role player at X.

Agree that he is an asset to the team. Has had a few foolish to's. He is tied with JP for 2nd on the team with 9 to's. Ed leads the team by far with 20. Ed has not played up to expectations. Did not not make 1st team all tournament. Will to improve to be a "lottery pick"

Re: Malcolm Bernard
story I hear is he will do anything because he is so happy to be at X. He wanted to be on a team that goes to the NCAA and is happy with teammates.mumuskie87 wrote:Bernard has filled Remy's production quite nicely.

I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Agreed. He is not spectacular, but seems to do everything well. He always seems to make timely plays, and is also very unselfish, which is a luxury when you have a team full of alpha dogs, as you say. He also has a great demeanor on the court. Solid pick up for X. Now if we could just get Gaston going....... Still early in the season. Hopefully he pulls off an A Myles in his progression.

The point guard will always lead the team in turnovers. He handles the ball about 75% of the time.hoosiermuskie wrote:Agree that he is an asset to the team. Has had a few foolish TO's. Re: Malcolm Bernard
True, but not the point here. Ed also has only 18 assists. A ratio of less than one for assists to TOs is quite poor for a PG.finalfourorbust wrote:The point guard will always lead the team in turnovers. Re: Malcolm Bernard
In defense of Ed, I can recall 4-5 passes to our bigs that went through their hands. I am sure there are 300+ D1 schools who would take/start Edmond. Relax only November.
