Nothing will be easy in the Big East, so good win. I thought Scruggs provided some valuable minutes as did Naji. We did not box out well at all especially Gates.

It took Mack a little while to figure out zone is not great against shooters. Luckily he pulled the plug on it in time and X was able to close out.

MU is definitely capable of beating anyone but can lose to plenty as well given their dependence on shooting from deep.

Great FT shooting by the entire team. Macura was not especially efficient but had huge plays with the steal at half, block near the end and drew the technical foul. TB did some damage at the line, found teammates and rebounded well. Shot selection was again questionable which is partly why his FG% was down. He needs to let the game come to him more, especially until he finds the rhythm.

A lot of those rebounds we missed were balls that bounced to the foul line due to their deep shooting.

Not quite sure how to interpret that, especially since the line was 3.5 points. I prefer to look at it that X went into hostile territory and imposed their will. It wasn’t a matter of just “surviving”, but of thriving.

The big slow center for them had 5 offensive rebounds that were mainly caused by poor defensive positioning. Missed threes cause long rebounds, however r bounding and defense were poor and that was stated by Mack.

the way Rowsey is shooting X needs some big stops. Naji played him tough

It's hard to guard Rowsey close because he will jump into you and draw a 3 point shooting foul. The refs have been letting him get away with that for years and I don't know why.

he did get a big rebound at the end but you are right he seemed to fall back into his drifting to the arc and not being under the basket where he is a big help in rebounding.
