Sorry, but that's much too simplistic.

The 04 team came back from the dead to make that run, and it will be a year to remember - but only from the St. Joe's game on, really. This was a year to remember from the start. And this team had a bullseye on its back all year long.

They stood up to practically everything they had thrown at them - coming back after the Miami loss with a great showing in Chicago. Coming back from the ASU and Tenn losses to put together three of the best regular season performances in recent memory against KSU, Va, and Aub. Finishing 14-2 in a league that is as strong as it was in years. And bouncing back from a disappointing semis loss in the A-10 tournament - when so many on this board were questioning whether we had peaked too early - and making a run to the Elite 8.

Faced with the toughest schedule - and toughest league - in program history, this team went deep into the tournament without sneaking up on anyone. They were the marked man, and until today, they prevailed. This was no surprise...this was no team that took 20 games to finally start playing like a team...this was no "Run." This was a team that we expected would be great, and they didn't let us down. They gave us the greatest season this program has ever seen - until the next one comes along...and it won't be long until it does.

Gary, I guarantee you this UCLA team was a whole lot better than the 04 Duke team, and this Xavier team was a damn sight better than the 04 Xavier team. And no matter how great the season, unless you win that championship the end of the season is going to be disappointing and lousy, and depressing and turribly sad, turribly sad.
But heck, the glass is still half empty, right?
