<<If we want to get technical on what i said to the guy then i can start harping on the fact you don't know what it means when i repeatedly acknowledge some of my points as both sarcastic and part of a larger point.>>

Well, yes, when discussing what's inaccurate and what isn't, getting "technical" about what was said and what wasn't is kind of important.

You infer that the writer said something he didn't say, and then hold it against him. Interesting way of making a point.

Hey, how about that bank you robbed? Oh, you didn't? Well, I was just being sarcastic.

FINALLY!!! We finally caught on.

Thanks for dissecting all the points in my article though. Either way you want to disagree with my approach not once did anything you say actually contradict my overall point. So at least i've got that going for me.

Before I leave...can you explain to me what exactly is innacurate about what I said about David West? I know you'll say that the innacuracy is implying something the writer said(which i didn't by the way). Because we all know sarcastic comments are overtly innacurate for the desired effect a sarcastic response tries to get. Last i checked everything i referenced in the letter actually happened. Oh well.

Now maybe because my sarcasm drips in most of my posts but I saw that West comment and said nice sarcasm wonder if would go right over the reporters head? I never thought the reporter made those comments but that Yeah, based on the article that writer probably would call West so and so up until Thad made him the POY if it was brought up.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

<<Last i checked everything i referenced in the letter actually happened.>>

Let's see, you chose to go into player development, which Lesmerises didn't mention at all.

You chose to mention David West and his "so-so" career, which Lesmerises didn't mention at all.

You chose to link Prosser to Matta and the Ohio State job, which Lesmerises didn't mention at all.

You chose to go back to last year's XU-OSU game (which we gave away), which Lesmerises didn't mention at all.

You chose to bring up the possibility of Matta leaving OSU, which Lesmerises didn't mention at all.

So all the above did "actually happen" in that you put them in YOUR letter, but none of them were stated or even reasonably implied in Lesmerises' original piece.

If you've got a beef with the P-D's coverage, that's fine. But your letter to the paper overreacts to a short, simple little paragraph that didn't contain any of the slights that were first brought up in your letter, not Lesmerises' paragraph.

So now we're going to blast a reporter for what he MIGHT have said IF something was brought up??

What's going on today? Is everyone taking their Friday afternoon acid? How about reacting to what was ACTUALLY written? Wouldn't that be a good place to start? If we're going to arrive at a conclusion based on what MIGHT be said IF a question was posed, then all logical thinking is out the window. Let's just bring out the lynch mob and ignore the fact that something didn't actually happen, and just pretend it happened because "by gosh, it COULD have happened!". Heaven help us.

Yeah this is the USA and I can think and express my opinion what I think a man might say based on the one sided article he writes. You do it all the time Gary, embrace it in others..

I think we need to keep in mind that this was a letter sent to the writer of an article. Mooky was just nice enough to post it for Muskie Fans to see. I'm sure the writer is capable of realizing he didn't mention David West in his blurb, so he would at that point in time, realize that the particular point on DW had been included to support the main underlying opinion featured in that letter to the sports writer. On a side note, why does it really matter? Its clearly a letter that makes a good point, supports Xavier, and clearly took some time to write. We are in the second round of the tournament and decide to lambast a first time poster who clearly was proud of the letter he wrote and was trying to stimulate discussion. That's pretty low end if you asked me. Its not proud Xavier fans like Mooky who are intolerable, its blowhards like you who disect entire threads to find fault and pounce, or champion the Lew Hirt Society like they are the second coming of Christ for all of fandom and bring it up on every thread, or spend ten hours of the day on a damn website posting which makes it impossible to lead a productive life. Mooky, let me know next time your in Cincinnati and will have a beer and a Tom Collins and talk Xavier Hoops at the Dana Gardens.

Like it or not Matta elevated the Xavier program which was becoming stale. He brought in an excellent coaching staff and was able to coach West, Chalmers, Myles an Sato to be the best college players they could be. He also brought in Miller who as Matta said taught him everything about recruiting. Matta is very similar to Chris Mack in that the players seem to really bond with them.
I hate the way he left but you can't dismiss that he had a positive effect on the program while he was here..
I agree with Neutral here, some people are way to sensitive.
