Xavier v Georgia -- Watch your back

The Zags played Georgia earlier this season. In the waning moments of the game after a made basket, Felton called time-out and set up a press defense, pressuring the inbounds. Here is a link to the ensuing play.

What I found disgusting is that afterwards (i.e. after they'd returned to Athens) Felton praised his guy for great "hustle".

Please blow these thugs (a term I don't use, but in this case it's called for) off the floor.

Muskieman, the only ref we have to worry about is John Cahill..He was the trailing ref who called the simple foul. The other two refs in position said on that website the refs have that they were all set to give the crossed wrists when Cahill signaled then he'd already called the foul.
Xeus. Huelsman's antics should have been called flagrant. The fact he did it twice mandated it. But it's proof positive of the crummy refs we have in the A10. Hopefully the new comish will make sure some of those bozos never work an A10 game again.
Sadly, fouls like that are creeping down to the high school level according to two ref friends of mine. It's that damned NBA "hard foul" that would result in an assault charge in public.
The kid should have been suspended by the SEC for the year and Felton should have been censured and fined. If the same thing happened again with his team, he should also be suspended. But, he's a lousy coach and always has been. Too bad he's still coaching there.
Bobinski better call Indianapolis and ask them to review the tape and at least warn Felton and Georgia players that anything that looks like that will be called flagrant and if it happens more than once, he, Felton will be ejected.

Don't leave out Tim Higgins, he's another sh!T for brains official. He called the imaginary foul on us vs. IU in Indy that cost us a game.

In the NBA they have what is called the "clear path foul" which is when if an offensive player is on a fast break and has a clear path to the basket if they are fouled, they get two shots and possession of the ball. This is not the case in college basketball. Much of the time what happens in cases like that is a defender says to himself "holy [crap] he's going to get an easy bucket, I better foul him," and something like that happens. I do not think this was intentional thuggery just simply reacting to fast to situation, it almost seems as though part of the reason that the foul looked so hard was the Georgia player realized what he was doing and was attempting to control the Zagster but in actuality making things worse. This is just my opinion but I never played NCAA D1 ball (but I did ride the bench at Georgetown (ky) before transferring to XU to pursue a degree in theology) and this type of thing happens all the time. I am not saying that this okay but to label a kid a thug for committing a hard foul is just as bad as a the foul itself. Also I understand why a coach would have been proud of the hustle on that play, how often do you see a play like that and have the defense make no attempt at inhibiting the play from happening?

I am by no means defending the kid or saying that is okay, I just think that it is important to look at both sides of the issue.

The problem is biff that the defender turn the shoulder of the player driving to the basket kind of like the guy holding onto the face mask and giving it a pull. Had the kid fouled and let go before he got the player turned then the player has the ability to control his fall but with his back going down he has no control of the fall. Biff nice to know you have a degree in theology, do you work in that area now?
